Name the song the line is from Part II

That has got to be “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” by Dusty Springfield.

Moving to the dance floor in 1967:

We're gonna shiiing-a-ling
We're gonna doooo our thing
Tonight!

Edited for proper case
Posted out of turn.
Hi, Tony

I know yours. But you may want to hold onto it and think about mine.

That’s cool, Tony. Sometimes the turning of the page will discombobulate things a bit for the game. It happens to me all the time.

Uh-oh, this one only went to #11 in the States, but I hear frequently on my local Oldies station. The fact that it still gets play, however, does not indicate that our group here will know it. On top of that the singing group happens to have the same name as a Canadian band according to Wikipedia. I’m still hoping somebody here will recognize it. If not, I’ll be back with hints and more lines.

I’ll just recap here:

We're gonna shiiing-a-ling
We're gonna doooo our thing
Tonight!

I believe that is Get On Up. I don't recall the name of the group but it was one of those early harmony groups that always wore matching suits and did the cool coordinated moves on stage. I seem to remember that those guys wore sharp blue jackets

Hmmm . . . forgot which song I deleted earlier so here is some late seventies -

Oh you make my world a summer day,
are you just a dream to fade away?

That’s really nice, Tony. It’s “Too Much Heaven” by the Bee Gees.

Banjo music is so cheerful:

There's no escape from the music in the whole damn street

Sixties

Wow! Maybe if she
would come back to me
Then it can't go wrong

Los Bravos did that one. It’s called “Black is Black”. That’s a good one that I hear a lot around here.

This may be risky, but I think it might work:

If I told you what it takes to reach the highest high
You’d laugh and say, “Nothing’s that simple”

Works fine for me - that is the Who again - from Tommy - I'm Free

******** NEW ****************

I felt a little like a dying clown
With a streak of Rin Tin Tin

Edited to add - it was a sixties hit, and we have had a couple of songs by this band lately.
