Name the song the line is from Part II

That's Maneater, by Hall & Oates.

From 1977:

Fly me away to the bright side of the moon
And meet me on the other side

Good Morning All,

I remember that song from when I watched a light show at Griffith Observatory years ago. It was really neat. It’s “Dream Weaver” by Gary Wright.

Then there’s this from 1962:

In the whole world
You can love but one girl
Let me be that one girl
For I'll be true to you

That's Soldier Boy. I think it was done by the Shirelles?

Early 80s:

You want a piece of my heart
You better start from the start

That sure looks like “Working for the weekend” by Lover Boy.

Here’s some 1987:

When you see her,
say a prayer
and kiss your heart goodbye

That one is Who's That Girl, by Madonna.

Some 1983 here:

Some people say I'm obnoxious and lazy
I'm uneducated--my opinion means NOTHIN'

Some more lines and a few hints:

Some people say I'm obnoxious and lazy
I'm uneducated--my opinion means NOTHIN'
But I know I'm a real good dancer
Don't need to look over my shoulder to see what I'm after
Everybody's got their problems--ain't no new news here
I'm the same old trouble you've been havin' for years

This artist was born and raised in Indiana, and still lives there. His musical style is sometimes called Heartland Rock.

He's known for his political activism, and has been associated with the annual Farm Aid concert ever since he helped to organize the first one in 1985.

The song is about what happens when unforeseen circumstances cause things to fall apart.

I don't know the song but the hints are enought for me to guess it is John Mellencamp.
Oh, I get it now. I have been spacey today. It’s “Crumblin’ down” by John Mellencamp.

Here’s one from 1986:

And I could say Oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oo ooo
As if everybody knows
what I was talking about

And I could say Oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oo ooo
As if everybody knows
what I was talking about

I thought that was one of those songs with the heavy South African influence on Paul Simon's Graceland album, but I couldn't come up with a title last night. I think I have it now.

It's Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes.

Taking a break from the '80s, and going back to 1966 for this one:

Worn out phrases and longing gazes
Won't get you where you want to go, no

Is that "Words of Love?" I'm not sure, but I can almost hear it in my head, lol. If I'm right, someone else can post another one. I have to leave for work.
