That's Let It Be Me. I remember the early 60s version by the Everly Brothers, but I'm guessing from the lyrics that the song itself may be older than that.

All I can think of at the moment is another early 60s tune -- someone help me, please, lol:

Oh what a wonder, this magic spell I'm under
This feeling that I feel, is it really real?

(Tony: Eric Burdon is a friend? Wow!)

More lyrics, and a hint or two:

Oh what a wonder, this magic spell I'm under
This feeling that I feel, is it really real?
My heart beats so fast, I pray that it will last
'Til the end of time
Dum doobie dum, woo-oo, doobie doobie
Dum doobie dum, woo-oo, doobie doobie
Dum doobie dum, woo-oo, _______ _ ____ __ ____, woo-oo

The song is from 1961. It reached #15 on the charts.

The group was made up of guys who went to the same high school in Brooklyn. Their next song, after this one, would be about some lion who sleeps in the jungle.

Does all these doobie lyrics indicate that this is a drug song ? Is that a hint ?

OK, OK, I give up. That loser song was Tonight I Fell In Love, by The Tokens.

You know what? To hell with the 60s.

Let's try one from the 70s:

And in my way I loved her as none before
Loved her with words and more

Fellow Boomers.......he doesn't mean it !
Now there’s a song I know for sure. It’s “Longfellow Serenade” by Neil Diamond.

Still 70s here:

So you used to shake 'em down
But now you stop and think about your dignity
I loves me some Bob Seger. That one is Rock and Roll Never Forgets.

The 70s thing seems to be working right now, so let's keep it going:

She keeps Moet et Chandon
In her pretty cabinet

Another good one, Jim. It’s “Killer Queen” by Queen.

Still in the 70s:

Well your friends with their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme

Smells like Dylan.. Hmmm
need
more
coffee
ooohh!!! Hall and Oats

but what's the name of it?!???
