Bob Evan's restaurant today

I sat down at this local restaurant, which is the first restaurant that I have sat down inside since the virus began.  I've been to this place many times in the past, and would estimate that the place is doing 1/3 of it's normal business.  They only had three employees working, vs the normal ten (I asked).

This can't go on forever people.  No work means no money and no wealth.  All the things that Americans have become accustomed to rely on jobs which add value and create wealth.  No money means no stuff.

You show a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation.

Yes, restaurants are slowed down. Yes, the economy is slowed down. But it hasn't stopped. 11% unemployment means 89% of the workforce is still working. A 5% contraction in GDP (which would be pretty severe, and isn't necessarily happening) would mean that 95% of goods and services are still being produced.

Furthermore, this has only been going on for about five months. Are we that weak that five months of bad economy kills us off? And more importantly, are we so weak that we have to kill ourselves and our children just to get the economy up to speed?

Economic damage can be repaired. Deaths cannot.

Lost wealth can never be replaced.  Lots of people are collecting a paycheck who are not working or who are working very little.  Many millions of jobs will be lost in the future due to what we are doing today, as hundreds of thousands of companies go bankrupt.

Many speculate that a vacine will only keep one safe for a limited amount of time.  Do we limit the economy forever?

Of course lost wealth can be replaced. It's ridiculous to think otherwise.

I see what is really twisting your panties--people getting unemployment relief. If that relief wasn't being provided, the economy WOULD be in the apocalypse you pretend it is.

You can have an opened economy without a pandamic spiraling out of control.   Europe, Japan, Taiwan and even Canada are proof.     Those countries have largely put this problem in the rearview mirror and are open for business

We wasted three months and trillions of dollars with no results  because our national leadership along with its base cant engage in basic protocols that keep the disease in check.   Dr Fauci isn't the reason our economy is struggling.... Its the People who dont listen to him and dont  wear masks.

Know anybody like that?

Finally, PJ has posted something I agree with. It is just incidental that he has said what I have been saying all along,-- "Its the People who dont listen to him and dont  wear masks."

If you don't work for six months, how will you regain that wealth?

Replace. Not regain.

Here's an analogy you might be able to understand. Your house is on fire. Nobody's inside. The fire department is coming but it will be a few minutes. Do you want to run inside and try to put the fire out, possibly killing yourself in the process?

Or do you simply say, I'll replace my house after it burns down, and not risk your life?

But Trump is trying to discredit Fauci and has been against wearing masks all along.

So whose side are you on? Trump's or common sense's?

Interesting when it comes to the virus kevin can't tolerate 1 death, but does not utter a word about the several hundred shootings in the last week & the 6 children that were murdered.

The 31m unemployed along with the millions underemployed who are in dange of losing their homes & cars would disagree with the above statement.
