Californians may have developed some herd immunity to coronavirus

Stanford researchers are looking into the possibility that coronavirus first hit California undetected last year, much earlier than anyone realized, and was only seen at that time as a particularly nasty and early flu season.

As a result, the theory says, many Californians have already unknowingly been exposed to the coronavirus and have developed immunity to it.

"When you look at other states, it doesn't quite explain completely why California has been more fortunate, especially when it should be the least fortunate," said Victor Davis Hanson, senior fellow with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

Interesting to say the least.

They already took down the link because it was a crock. The guy who promoted it was not a scientist, he was a Fox News favorite military historian.

May I suggest you follow @steak-umm on Twitter. Yes, the frozen steak people. They are giving some of the best advice on the internet.

"friendly reminder in times of uncertainty and misinformation: anecdotes are not data. (good) data is carefully measured and collected information based on a range of subject-dependent factors, including, but not limited to, controlled variables, meta-analysis, and randomization"

California is doing better than many other states because it went into lockdown fairly early---during the time when Trump was still saying the coronavirus was "under control" and over a dozen Trumper governors were listening to him.

It also is doing relatively well because it's a fairly affluent state, and low socioeconomic status is in and of itself a risk factor. California has a very good healthcare system and its own healthcare program, MediCal.

California deaths are surging..........about 220 over the past four days.

More Kevin misinformation.

According to the Census California has the highest poverty rate (20%) in the country. It also has 25% of the homeless population, even though it only had 13% of the country's population.

If China had been forthcoming & the deception continues to this day, about the virus we would not be in this situation. Virus infections would be 90% less today.

But the commies here won't admit it.

Right. California has the highest poverty rate in the country according to the Census. Except for:

Mississippi

New Mexico

Louisiana

West Virginia

Kentucky

Alabama

Arkansas

Oklahoma

South Carolina

Tennessee

Georgia

Arizona

Texas

Michigan

New York

Florida

Ohio

Delaware

Indiana

Missouri

And I'll provide a link to the Census to prove my statement. Because I'm not tom. And damn proud of it!

When you factor in the supplemental poverty rate California is #1.

Stanford might consider rethinking their study since California deaths have increased by 58% over the past four days.  My great grandfather was class president at Stanford many years ago.  I trust that he's rolling over in his grave with embarrassment.

Kevin was attempting to make a point that Liberalism is a wonderful thing, and that it somehow limits the corona beer virus.

And let's not forget the Democratic leadership in the NY met area, who not only were slow to shut things down, but encouraged people to go out.

And included is the NYC chancellor who told principals not to notify their staff of virus cases.

As a result these 3 states account for more than 50% of the cases in America.

Except those "supplementals" aren't actually living in poverty. So exactly what's your point.

Most of the folks included in the supplemental are seniors living on Social Security. In California, at any rate, they don't have to live in poverty.
