Conservatives Think This Guy Tripped And Fell

Don't worry conservatives you are not alone. This was the official position of the Buffalo PD after the video came out.  Then suddenly it wasn't and the two perps were suspended from the force.  Shortly thereafter all 57 officers on the emergency Response team resigned as a show of solidarity.  They said it was unfair the perps were suspended because the officers were, "only following orders."  Conservatives like to minimize violent assaults by police as the case of just a few bad apples. It seems to me like the whole bunch in Buffalo are rotten.

Apparently the cops' union had a lot to do with the mass resignation.

I'm sure that Fucker Carlson and the rest of the bunch have come up with all sorts of excuses for this incident. All I know is that if I shoved another person to the ground and he cracked his skull open as a result, I'd be guilty of felony assault.

And if I shoved a cop to the ground and he cracked his skull open, I'd be dead.

Cops are often bullies and sometimes poorly trained. Putting weapons and authority into the hands of such people is not a good idea. "Law and order" conservatives dismiss this consideration.

I actually side with the police on this one.      Sorry.    Protestors do not have the right to touch any of the police officers as this man appears to have done.   Thats a felony assault - even if all you do is touch their arm.  There are rules to peacefully protesting.   People should follow them.   Trust me when I say you do not want to get a point where cops cant maintain law and order at these protests.

In this incident - The cop pushed the man back (albeit aggressively) whereby the man lost his balance and fell to the pavement.   He was not body slammed or forced to the ground by the cop -  he was pushed backward (and yes, fell).

The resulting injury from his head hitting the pavement is what made the incident viral.

For context, watch this video of cops in my home town being much more aggressive with protestors.    The injuries didn't put the protestors in the ICU so the media did not pick up on it as much.   No cops in this video were charged with anything.

I am dismayed that this man ended up hitting his head and started bleeding. But I must concur with PJ that this man initiated this episode by first touching the officer. If that man had not been "exercising his rights" and had kept his hands to himself, he would not have ended up injured.

The news report I saw (CBS) said the man was attempting to explain why he was out there, maybe past curfew?  that he was on a work assignment or something?  I admit I probably didn't hear it all correctly, or it wasn't reported correctly, whatever.   In any case it looked really bad for the cops.  75 resigned?  How stupid is that?  Or maybe it is a good thing for the citizens of Buffalo.

The cop on the left was pushing him backward with his baton before the guy ever made any contact with the cop on right. It is extremely poor judgment to be forcing an elderly person to be walking backward like that. Then to give him a hard shove is felony assault which the two officers have since been charged with. His injury was foreseeable as a likely outcome if you want to use legal terminology.

Even if you look at in the best light for cops how do you excuse them just continuing to walk by while the guy has a large volume of blood running out of his ear?

The bottom line is if you are a law enforcement officer you are supposed to be the professional.  If you feel threatened by a 75-year-old unarmed man walking backward when you are dressed in riot gear and surrounded by your cohorts, you shouldn't be on the force.

Anyway, I wish the gentleman well and hope he enjoys spending his forthcoming seven-figure settlement funded by the Buffalo taxpayers.

He'll be able to book a flight to Vegas and spend a lavish week playing isolation slots and enjoying the hot tub in the Settlement Suite. It's the perfect place to spend your tort check.

Touch a cop and get your head cracked open. This is the lesson that Black people already knew, but this old White guy probably didn't. While I remained convinced that the vast majority of police officers are consummate professionals, the sad fact is that in any group of, say, 100 police officers, there will be one or two bullying psychopaths. Maybe that's also true of Starbucks baristas--but the police are armed and given essentially carte blanche to use force.

Wait a minute, . . . .

Wait . . . a . . . minute, . . .

Poor old DonDiego is an old man, . . . perhaps he could confront a peace officer and, . . . did someone say "seven-figure settlement" ? ? ?

Cracking one's head open and winding up in intensive care might not be worth it...plus, it's been conclusively shown that confronting the cops can get you not just shoved, but beaten up or even shot.

DonDiego should stick to his strategy of waiting for Trump-brought prosperity to dawn and cause $100 bills to rain from the sky (just on White people, of course). Safer that way.

Ditto, Mark.  Well stated.

Seven figures, in the upper range, would be about right.

Hmm, the gentleman looks familiar...possibly my favorite uncle?  LOL.
