Cuomo

Cuomo mishandled the crisis initially. He recognized that and fixed it. Cases and deaths in New York are declining.

Trump utterly botched the crisis, and rather than having the humility to admit it, has doubled down on his mistakes and killed thousands of people. Cases and deaths in Trump Land are skyrocketing.

Stalker criticizes the former but cheers for the latter. That tells us all we need to know about what kind of person Stalker is.

It took Cuomo almost 2 months to change his policy, meanwhile Gov DeSantos of Florida would not allow them to return until cleared! Of course typical news rags were all over DeSantos. Florida with more residents has had 1000 care home deaths, New York 5800 and Jersey 5300.

Glad Florida decided to loosen restrictions much sooner and enjoy some sort of freedom. Of course, a second wave could change all this but maybe NY and NJ have a “model” too follow.

Those evil Cuomo lackeys that are criticizing Trump don't acknowledge the fact that he was facing an unprecedented crisis. Did he handle it perfectly?.No. Did he have enough information to do so? No. Did he have enough resources to do so? No.

Blaming him for thousands of deaths that would have occurred anyway is an act of disgusting partisan hyperbole. Kevin, Mark,  et al. should be ashamed of themselves, using the deaths of thousands to score political points.  Corrected. Now it reads truthfully.

Plagiarized.

It is obvious that you hold Cuomo to a different standard than President Trump. You have no trouble blaming the president while excusing Cuomo for his order to kill thousands.

Once again Kevin is wrong as only a few hospitals were overcrowded.

Instead of stuffing sick people in nursing homes, he could have put them

in the way underutilized Comfort & Javits Center.

While people were being dumped in nursing homes, the Comfort left NYC because it was empty.

Both Trump and Cuomo screwed up. I hold them to the same standards.

The HUGE difference is that Cuomo realized what he was doing wrong, listened to scientists, and fixed it. Trump refused to accept any blame or responsibility, and instead doubled down on his mistakes.

Tom may not be able to comprehend the difference, but I am.

NY Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo: “We’ve been more aggressive than any state in nursing home precautions. We have been smart.”

5,600+ have died in NY nursing homes after Cuomo’s policy forced nursing homes to accept coronavirus patients

And how many of those deaths would have happened anyway, given that they had already contracted CoVid-19 and were elderly, usually with underlying conditions?

There wasn't, and still isn't, any treatment available for such patients other than sticking them on ventilators and watching them die. To blame Cuomo for that is simply asinine, and Trumper-partisan.

If Kevin lived in New York City and if his Mother was residing in a nursing home that was forced to accept virus infected elders and if his Mother died as a result - Kevin would be singing a much different tune. And Kevin knows it.

Cuomo waited 6 weeks to correct it & probably would never had done it if the Post didn't make it an issue.

Yesterday we found out that if a virus patient was sent to the hospital & died there, it isn't in the count. So the number of people who died as a result of this policy is even higher.

What! Are you posting and drinking? Cuomo sent positive Covid patients into elderly facilities with folks who were not infected! Duh, you keep preaching to us how quickly it spreads which it does. So, why would one want to contaminate the other residents?

I already explained it. At the time, overburdened hospitals couldn't meaningfully treat those patients anyway. Moving them into nursing homes freed up hospital bed and ICU capacity.

The nursing homes knew full well how to isolate those patients and minimize the risk of spreading the infection. The degree to which they did so is a different issue. But most nursing homes placed their infected residents in quarantine areas.

These elderly patients received better and more personalized care than they would have while lying on a gurney in a hall, waiting for a hospital bed to become available. Anyone whose symptoms became acute was rushed to the hospital.

The key is, you have to remember, for most people who contracted the virus and were not in immediate distress, the advice from doctors was "go home and come back if you get significantly worse." For many of these elderly patients, that wasn't a viable option. Therefore, the stopgap measure of putting them in nursing homes was implemented.

I'm highly amused at our Trumpers donning the costume of highly qualified medical experts and trying to tell us, with the benefit of hindsight, what  according to THEM,  Cuomo should have done.

And in response to the inevitable question, Trump had far more information and vastly greater resources than Cuomo; yet, he sat with his thumb up his ass for two months. In response to urgent warnings, he fired the people who provided those warnings.
