Dr. Oz Wants Local Politicians To Decide If It's Ok For A Woman To Have An Abortion

Your last paragraph above is full of monstrously exxagerated  overkill descriptors, but we'll certainly have an edge on some of those issues. You're not gonna allow us to enjoy it, are ya? I can tell. It'll be your sides turn again soon enough, assuming a sweeping R victory in a few days. Just give the R's a little time to piss off the electorate again after a little time in power ( historically speaking, again). That'll happen.

In particular, the "no more black bastards voting" phrasing, where/why do you think that's gonna happen? That's really ridiculous and a bit mythical..and in fact represents but an infinitesimally small  proportion of your opposition's opinion. Pretty shallow, Kevin...but it's your business.

You probably don't want to acknowledge the extent to which voter suppression laws and gerrrymandering have diminished the impact/value of black citizens' votes. That's OK. If you did that, your conscience wouldn't let you vote for your gang. So cognitive dissonance compels you to label it an an exaggeration. And even though I'm not black, I don't consider the issue "shallow."

I do wish that your gang was willing to state intended policy positions beyond how they intend to wage their culture wars. I'm sure that omission is deliberate. Just point at the problems, blame them on the other side, and be disingenuous about how you intend to fix them. That's the ticket. Don't propose concrete solutions to address inflation--because neither a Republican nor a Democratic Congress can fix that GLOBAL problem. Just IMPLY that if you vote for us, it'll be allllll better.

I don't agree with you that the RepubliQ power grab will be temporary. They've already shown a truly shocking willingness to crap on the law, the Constitution, and common decency in their relentless, all-consuming pursuit of power. Given that power for at least two years, and likely much longer, they'll do everything they can think of to crush our democracy. The reaction you predict may not occur. Suppose the RepubliQ declares every election they lose fraudulent, and unlike in 2020, they control Congress? After all, they already control the courts.

If and when that happens, please post a video clip of your victory dance.

I fully acknowledge that gerrymandering occurs..from both sides ( only a fool wouldn't). I don't know of any voting district specifics, though..for either side. Do you, really? I haven't studied it at all ( and I'd have to in order to make any claims of it's significance / impact or lack thereof in a given locale ). Further , which specific voter suppression laws do you refer to? Which one/s in recent history can you name / specify and where did they occur?

Cognitive dissonance?  Suggesting my inconsistency, or saying one thing  then doing another? Regarding what, exactly?

It's not that your beliefs or opinions are shallow, necessarily ; I was referring to how you presented them, actually ( and you know that). Further, don't expect a victory dance from me, particularly on a video. I still have a bit of self-respect left, even at my age.

Cognitive dissonance is when a person holds two contradictory beliefs simultaneously and goes through mental gyrations in order to alleviate the pain that causes. Example--the thoughts of a Trumper:

1. I believe myself to be a good and wise person.

2. I voted for a horrible person, not once but twice.

Therefore, that person I voted for is actually a noble savior of our country.

Note that either 1. or 2., being incompatible, must be squelched in the person's mind to relieve the pain of dissonance. This means that the pain could be relieved by saying, "Well, maybe my judgment is poorer than I thought," or even, "Wow, I'm really an evil asshole after all."

So for you, it's

1. I believe in the nobility and righteousness of the conservative cause.

2. Conservatives have recently done horrible things and their current rhetoric suggests that they want to overturn our democracy.

Leaving you with a choice between

1. Maybe conservatives currently aren't so noble and have selfish and antidemocratic aims.

2. It's all fake news spread by the baby-eating Democrats.

You wouldn't be surprised to learn that your gang finds 2. a lot easier than 1.--even though it's clearly the more absurd contention of the two.

If you want a specific example of gerrymandering, check out Wisconsin. Votes are split almost evenly between Democrat and Republican; yet, Republicans have 10 of the 12 Congressional seats and complete control of the state legislature. There are other states, such as North Carolina, where similar imbalances exist. And they're all red states.

Yeah,well..that's your take. I'm done for a few days / weeks. Have fun.

kevin gets even these basic facts wrong

Wisconsin only has 8 congressional seats & the split is 5-3 Republicans

A large and growing number of Democrats in Wisconsin are self-packed into urban areas. Wisconsin law mandates that legislative maps avoid crossing county and municipal boundaries

Federal law requires that a certain number of majority Black and majority Latino districts be drawn as well. All of this means that virtually any process of redistricting will create a set of heavily blue urban seats “packed” with Democrats

Since democrats are packed into 2 cities there is little opportunity for the democrats to exapnd their base.  A look at the voting pattern of the state shows that almost the entire state is red

Everything Tom says is...well, even factoring in the few times what he says is accurate, nothing to thank him for.

I'm amused as well as disgusted by how you conservitards think that 1,000,000 people and 50,000 people having the same representation is fair...as long as the larger group is Hispanic or black and the latter is white.

Easier than facing the truth about yourself and your beliefs.

Charles - you welcome & thanks for your informative posts.

You two should meet up and lick each other. He's smarter than you are, though, by several orders of magnitude.
