Georgia Republipigs pass Jim Crow 2.0

MP - the law says one cannot solicit votes by handing out food & water. Thanks for losing your own argument.

Little angry man has yet to show how the law makes it more difficult to vote. Even the Washington post gave Biden 4 Pinocchio's for Biden's comments.

HERE IS THE TEXT OF THE LAW:

"(a) No person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method, nor shall any person distribute or display any campaign material, nor shall any person give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector, nor shall any person solicit signatures for any petition, nor shall any person, other than election officials discharging their duties, establish or set up any tables or booths on any day in which ballots are being cast:

(1) Within 150 feet of the outer edge of any building within which a polling place is established;

(2) Within any polling place; or

(3) Within 25 feet of any voter standing in line to vote at any polling place."

The law states "any" person, including you, me. and anyone else. Oh, and in the English language, the meaning of the phrase subsequent to "nor" is not dependent on the predicate phrase. So in plain English, giving out food or water to voters in line has been declared illegal.

MP, it's far too late to educate Tom on English usage. He's also too thick to understand how voter suppression laws...duhhhhh...suppress voting. He's a lost cause.

There were two big problems with elections in Georgia that Republicans remedied with the new voting law.

Georgia's scumbag, anti-democratic law explained

1) The Secretary of State got to certify the election.   And as we saw he correctly stated there was no voter fraud and refused to overturn the election results as requested by DOnny Treason and his Confederate mob.    The new law strips the SoS of that power and gives it to the Republican legislature.

2)  Local counties and their bipartisan election comittees got to count votes in their own counties.    The new law gives the state run Republican legislature the power to overthrow those comittees and replace them with their own, unelected partisan hacks.

In summary, in the next election when Donny Treason calls Georgia and asks them to find 11,000 votes - they now have the tools to oblige him.

What else can I help with today?

In a way, I kind of want to see this take place. The Georgia legislature overturns election results and/or installs its own stooges to count votes. If this changes the results, there might be a revolution. The RepubliQ might have to run for their lives.

This horrid law shows just how whiny-brat sore-loser rotten the Georgia RepubliQ party has become. They should be tried and prosecuted. The Georgia legislature, not Georgia's voters, will now decide the results of elections.

Sherman should have burned the entire state to the ground in 1864, and made it a wildlife refuge or something.

To clarify, one is not allowed to bribe homeless people with food and water.  How silly.

The next thing you know, Republicans will create a law making it illegal to bribe drunks with whiskey.  Those assholes.

The law says people can't solicit votes near a polling place & then lists the things you can't do to solicit votes including water.

Still waiting for kevin to explain why the law discriminates.

Thats right - becasue according to Republicans thats the nature of the transaction:   Homeless people showed up to wait in line for 8 hours so they could get their free bottle of water.     Thats the Republican narrative.  Thats the big voter-fraud problem they solved.

The law obviously discriminates against  people who are in those 8 hour lines and does not against people who walk in and vote in 15 minutes.

And If Tom/Boiler  need help with any other obvious answers I know a guy who can help.

As mentioned earlier the long lines in Democrat Dekalb county & democrat Atlanta are due to the lack of facilities which are the responsibility of those democratic areas.

Again, how does this law discriminate?

Did you read my last post?   Or were my words too big?

There is both legitimate local and state blame for long lines....but its mostly due to population explosion in the urban areas.    The counties are working to alleviate that issue...the state is working to make it worse.   And guess whose side Tom and the Jim Crow disciples are on?

When Republicans convened to fix voting problems in their state they did not address the long lines...they addressed other "big problems".

Maybe Tom can tell us what huge problem was fixed as a result of State Republicans disallowing water to be handed out, reducing drop-box locations, stripping power from the Sec of State, or instituting the overthrow of local election committees?     How is that making elections better?  do tell - because nobody from Georgia has been able to articulate it yet.

Tommie-poo seems to not understand that the voter suppression law primarily affects urban districts; those districts are heavily Democratic and populated primarily by people of color; therefore, the law discriminates against those voters.

This is a chain of logic that wouldn't challenge a bright six-year-old but baffles poor Tommie-poo.
