Get your vaccine sooner using this one weird trick!

Oklahoma has a vaccination portal.  I found it confusing, as did many others.  was not succesfull in several attempts to get an appointment.  I  found a small, stand alone, family owned pharmacy in Muskogee, 90 mile drive.  I got my Moderna shot yesterday.  scheduled my 2nd shot in one month.  This is not a Walgreen's or big chain pharmacy.  They even showed me their special freezer where they store the vaccine.  My side effects are really, really sore arm.  Movement of my arm is somewhat impeded.  Any one else experiencing side effects?

I had pain in my arm for one day. Best pain I've ever had.

Shot #1, I had mildly sore arm for 3 days, no big thing.  Day 2 I had mild crappy feeling all day, temp 100.4.  Took Ibuprofen.  It was gone by that evening.

Husband had mild sore arm like mine.  Nothing day 1 or 2, but day 3 and 4 he woke up with serious (to him) soreness all over, no temp elevation, stayed home from work.  Day 5 he was improved.

The vaccine was Moderna.  Number 2 next week.

Candy

To me, those fairly mild symptoms show that the vaccine is doing what it's supposed to do--they are characteristics of an immune system response.

I haven't gotten my shots yet, as we're still trying to catch up from the 60% shortfall in the initial vaccine deliveries and have only gotten to the over-75 population so far. When I get it, it looks like I probably shouldn't do any weightlifting for the next few days.

I can understand the existential horror perceived and promulgated by the anti-vaxxers. Wouldn't you rather get sick and die than have a sore arm for a few days???

I spent 15 minutes online to figure out how to get an appointment for a vaccine.  Either I'm super smart, or the Indiana government workers have done a far better job than most states at setting up their program.

Isn't it kind of appalling that the Trump apologists are still out there and vigorously defending their fallen orange god? I mean, what for? No reward is attached to debasing oneself in this way.

What is appalling is that I provided the facts to Kevin, and he refuses to consider the truth.  Kevin, please give us the data about Oregon's vaccine supply that proves that Trump screwed up.  I provided the truth, yet you complain about Trump with no facts.

The data show that while Trump was still infesting the White House, we got 40% of the vaccine doses we had been promised. I'm a teacher, and I give an "F" for a 40% score.

You aren't exactly convincing when you put on your David Miller underwear and start labeling everything you say "the facts" and "the truth." Or when you put on your MAGA hat and style yourself as Trump Warrior, Defender of the Faith.

According to Graham Allison (not a Trump supporter) in the WSJ it was due to President Trump's Operation Warp Speed that we were able to develop a vaccine in less than a year.  In the same article he quotes fauci who said it would take 12 to 18 months.  Paul Offitt said Fauci was optimistic & the NY Times said that a vaccine won't be developed any time soon.

So while kevin complains about a slow rollout, it was due to President Trump's leadership that we even have a vaccine.

PJ, most governors want to pass the buck for their mistakes.

I'm that you and I agree that this winter storm that is slowing vaccine distribution is Trump's fault.  He should have planned for this and had the army clearning the snow from the roads.  Better yet, he should have prevented the snow from falling.  Certainly, snow removal should not be left to the states as these things can only handled well at the federal level.

And Kevin, my goal was not to "win".  My goal was to lead you to information that would change your opinion.  Since you are unwilling to read about the facts, I have not won.  At least I know the truth, however.

How much money do you think the average state had set aside for resources/planning/ and strategy for a never before seen pandemic?   And considering all the states coffers are suffering from the economic impact of the pandemic it was pretty dumb (and freakishly lazy) for the Trump Administration to pass off that responsibility while he went around doing rallies and ridiculing people for wearing masks.

And thats why no other country on the planet followed that same lazy, incompetant plan.   And thats why their vaccine rollout is better than ours.   And thats why Trump had his ass handed to him in the recent election

What else can I help with today?

The Pfizer vaccine was developed by a German company, BioNTech, without one dollar of research and development money from Trump or the US.  In fact, the company got the genotype off of the internet as soon as the Chinese scientists posted it and began working on it immediately.  By the way, that was when Trump was saying "it's just the flu," "we have 15 cases going to zero," "it will disappear like a miracle."   How you give Trump credit for the Pfizer vaccine is beyond me--of course you gleefly swallowed 30,000 lies from Trump over four years, so I guess I'm not surprised by your willful ignorance.
