David is such a fool. He thinks that global warming means no more winter. Anywhere.

Climate change denial is a conservitard mantra (though declining in popularity, I know). It's no longer possible to ignore it or minimize its effects, though, so only those RepubliQ whose primary earning sources are the fossil fuel companies have remained strident in such denial. Any citizen, yourself included, should realize the disingenuous, self-serving nature of that position.
Insofar as "verifiable facts/proof" that it's happening...well, there's a mountain of such proof out there; the data are no longer anything but certain. Since you have a preconceived stance, though, I doubt that my citing any of that data would help. You will, I fear, believe what you want to believe. If it makes you feel any better, I used to question the existence of climate change myself. Then, the data became irrefutable. What I wanted to believe was irrelevant. I hope you get there too, someday.
As far as whether and how much we should spend money to mitigate this problem...well, put a price on the death of millions and the suffering of tens of millions more, and what expenditures to forestall those events are justified. And no, that ain't hyperbole. Tens of millions. Maybe hundreds of millions. We in the wealthy nations will be inconvenienced. Those in the poorer nations will die like flies.
The hilarious/sad thing is that conservatives are, by definition, terrified by change...and yet, here is the single most consequential change in human history, happening right now, and conservatives don't want to even TRY to stop it. I guess all those yummy lobbyist checks have compelling power.
And just for grins...I'm smarter than God. That's because I exist, and he doesn't. (My cat is also smarter than God, to which he would respond, "Well, duh.") Merry Christmas!
I don't deny climate change. I resist the attempts put forward to date by proponents for mitigating its effects and the subsequent means to pay for it all. Are you really sure about your referenced published data proof set? Are you really certain about which proportion of that data hasn't been factually debunked? What's the currency of your data?
The "Ohh, shit..we're gonna die" Extinction Brigade has failed previously. Al Gore..if he had been running things
in this 'inconvenent truth' environment, none of us could post here..because we all perished in 2012. AOC, as I recall, said we had 12 years left to save the planet in 2019; so, now we're all quivering in our waders for the next 8/9 years waiting for these apocalyptic catastrophes to ensue. These and other folks( including you) certainly have the right to believe in this initiative if sincere about it..I just disagree with the proposed methods to address it. Money printers (digital or otherwise) are one of the primary tools employed by this group of people ( in effect).
The other aspect is the hypocrisy of a portion of those who publicly and routinely tout climate change as the premier 'existential threat' to humankind. It's often just before or after they've boarded / disembarked an airplane to/from somewhere, such as the 400 private planes that flew in and out of Glasgow last fall to that climate conference. That collective Glasgow action delivered more tons of CO2 into the atmosphere than several thousand US citizens typically produce in a years time. I'm not advocating for poisoning the so-called environment and those who do should be punished. I'm all for common sensical regulatory actions, as well. But the ways and means of this bunch ( even if it's your bunch) are a bit deluded. In the end, my takes on these issues likely won't matter because of the leviathan efforts to sink money into the green initiatives of various forms worldwide. I won't be contributing to said bank.
Merry New Year to all.
And Go Cowboys, of course.

Actually, what AOC said was that lacking strong mitigation measures, climate change would become irreversible by 2030. She's right, and that's backed up by the informed opinions of literally tens of thousands of scientists. So if your ideology/mindset compels you to contradict them, well, more power to ya, I guess.
The financial argument--don't spend money to keep human existence from becoming immeasurably worse--is "penny wise, pound foolish" writ as large as possible. It's like not putting oil in your car's engine because the stuff costs $6 a quart, and the car's running fine right now, and we'll know if it really needs oil when funny noises start coming from the engine (believe me, I used to be a dumb teenager making $1.65 an hour, so I know of whence I speak).
As far as the veracity of the science and the genuineness of the threat--well, as I said, I was very skeptical back in, say, the Gore Times. I didn't think there was enough data. Since then, those data have increased by several orders of magnitude. At this point, climate change denial is like gravity denial.
Was Fauci one of those scientists?

Why do you ask? (I assume that you know that Fauci's field isn't remotely related to climate change and he's not an expert on it.) Stupid rhetorical question?
When did you drink so much Trump Kool-Aid that Fauci-hating became a thing for you? Fauci told the truth, and Trump crapped on him because he thought the truth would hurt his re-election chances. Tens of thousands of people died as a result. And loyal Trump stooges demonized Fauci--with no pretext to do so.
Did you at least get paid something to be one of those stooges, to make it sort of worth the effort?
