I meant to respond to this earlier so I apologize for my late reply. I have been busy.
Like Kevin, I don't hate America but I don't always think it has been great and I still think we have a long way to go to make it great. Current events point to it slipping further into the not-so-great column.
Here are some things that weren't so great slavery, segregation, lynchings, the forced relocation/genocide of the native population, the Tuskegee medical experiments on African American men, WW II internment camps, the white on black massacre and looting of black Wall Street, the white on black massacre at Rosewood Flordia, putting minority kids in cages, separating children from their parents and I am sure there are many other things I am missing. None of these things can be dismissed as mere imperfections or simply blips on the radar. I note all these events seem to have a common theme.
Here are some things that still aren't so great the unequal treatment of minorities by law enforcement, the intentional suppression of minority votes through overt acts like rigging the census, purging the voter rolls of minority voters, the disassembling of postal sorting machines so minority votes can't be counted and so on. If you don't support these things directly you at least give them your nod of approval by continuously voting for candidates that do these things.
Here are some really awful and even unprecedented things that are going on right now that you support directly or indirectly by voting for elected officials who do or participate in these things.
The rise of white rage.
The mandatory whitewashing of history by forbidding the teaching about some of the things I mentioned above because it might make snowflake white kids feel bad.
The dangerous conspiracy-mongering by the conservative media and elected officials which led to the violent occupation of the capital and will lead to more violence.
The dangerous anti-vaxx conspiracy-mongering by the conservative media and elected officials that have led to a significant portion of the population not getting vaccinated which increases the likelihood of a vaccine-resistant mutation developing that will cause another lockdown and more mass deaths.
The open embrace of lawlessness and corruption committed in plain sight by conservative elected officials.
The shunning of democratic governance and the open embrace of authoritarian fascism by conservatives and conservative politicians as a vehicle to achieve permanent minority rule by them.
If America is so great why are you and your conservative chums working so hard to get rid of democracy and replace it with a one-party system?
The United States is not a "Democracy", never has been! its a "Constitutional Republic" Civics 101
A one party system would Suck (either direction)
There are 45+ million people living in this country that were not born in the U.S. We cant Suck that bad!
