Mustn't one first have the virus to spread the virus?  Is Kevin's suggesting that my magnificent physical prowess is allowing a Covid infection to go unnoticed?

I guess your basic ignorance includes not knowing that you can be infected, and can infect other people, without showing any symptoms. You could have been tested with very little expense or trouble before you left. But you decided not to, because you were afraid you'd test positive and then you'd have to cancel your little trippy-poo.

I agree with Kevin.  My magnificent physical prowess, strength, and overall clean living most certainly would allow me to have Covid yet show zero symptoms.  Thank you for the compliment.

A little off topic:  Today our paper listed 20 "establishments" which have been cited by enforcement agents of the state ABC/Dept. of Health, "accompanied by a fine and a probationary period for violations of covid-19 directives over the past month."

FWIW, in brief:

 - Liquor store.  Staff not wearing masks.

 - Eatery.  Tables allowed seating for more than 10 patrons.

 - Food supply business.  "Day-shift manager not wearing a mask and refused to put one on when asked to do so by agents."  (What an idiot!)

 - Food mart.  Neither clerk nor patrons were wearing masks; clerk served food without wearing gloves.

 - Food mart.  Two clerks not wearing masks.

 - Eatery.  Nine people sitting within a foot of one another at the bar.

 - Business?  Patrons were not social distancing in the seating areas.

 - Mexican eatery.  The cook was preparing and handling food without gloves.

 - Coffee type cafe?  Clerk refused to properly wear a mask or present his ID to agents.  (Another idiot.)

 - Restaurant.  Patrons not seated 6 feet apart.

 - Quick-stop gas/food, etc.  Two clerks not wearing masks.

 - Mexican eatery.  Guests were moving around without masks, and the cooks were preparing food without gloves.

 - A dollar store.  Staff was not being screened for the virus.  (Note:  I don't  know what "screened" means for this type business.  Tested?  Temps taken?)

 - Kwik Stop No. xx.  Store manager not wearing a mask.

 - Kwik Stop No. xx.  Store manager serving customers with her mask dangling from one ear (almost seems worse than no mask at all in a way, doesn't it.

 - Kwik Stop No. xx (all three of these in one city).  Employees were working the register with masks that covered  only their chins.

 - Quick stop mart (same city!).  Two clerks not wearing masks, and several customers were seen entering and exiting the store without masks.

 - Bar? (college town).  Patrons were dancing.  (a new one to me...no dancing?)

 - Burger/brews place (same college town, well known franchise).  Patrons sitting back to back in booths.

 - Bar and grill (same college town).  Bartender and waitress not wearing masks, and 13 people were gathered around one table.

However you feel about the covid rules, I'd hate to be the one that got my employer (my job!) in trouble, or  a favorite place shut down.  Nobody can know when a compliance officer will walk in.

Or, your stupidity would allow you to think that way.

Do you realize that even in such a scenario, you would infect other people?

There are two problems here: one, the political/idiot mindset that causes people to flout the rules, and two, a lack of teeth in enforcement. Business that violate the rules should be immediately shut down, just as they would be if they had serious health code violations, and the owners heavily fined. Individuals should be charged with reckless endangerment and likewise heavily fined.

I keep wanting to avoid concluding that we're a country of idiots; yet, the evidence keeps piling up.

I believe if said violations are found again in those establishments the penalties will be harsher, if not shut down for a time, at least.   Some folks just have to learn the hard way.
