Honestly, I have given up on this Shithole country.

Truthfully, it is a relief.  I'd suggest you all start to develop your own exit strategy.

We are at the point where one of the parties in our two-party system wants to be the sole political party in the United States and they are willing to forcibly overthrow the elected government to achieve that end.

Most coups fail on the first attempt and succeed on the second.  There will be a second.

Where are you moving to?

Probably SE Asia.  Parts of South/Central America with large Ex-Pat populations also intrigue me.  Hopefully, I can relocate to one of these places within the next 5 years. I'd love to go full nomad living in a different area every 6 months or so. Tentatively, I am looking at a 30 day or more trip in the late fall of this year.

Like you, I feel reasonably certain that our democracy will be forcibly overthrown very soon and that the Republican party will be the only one allowed. Just like Soviet Russia.

My exit strategy is Canada---if they'll accept American refugees fleeing from Baby Trump's death squads. If not that, then Mexico--I'll bring my gringo dollars.

The reason I think the situation is hopeless is that a minority party controls the country, 75 million people fervently believe a massive package of wackadoodle conspiracy theories, and a mentally deficient con man and grifter was elected to the highest office in the land--and was barely defeated on his second attempt.

The election I saw showed several red states that  either went blue or pretty damn close.     Arizona and Georgia are officially purple and Texas is about 6 years away from being the same.     And since the retard-march on Jan 6 millions of registered Republicans have changed their political affiliation.    And Trump left office as the most politically unpopular president since Nixon.

I'm not too worried about the Proud Boys taking over the country - Republicans should be worried about them taking over their party.   But thats their problem.

I'd love it if it was true, but how do you know that millions of Republicans have changed their political affiliation?

According to Credit Suisse the US is the wealthiest country in the world. In SE Asia the best is Thailand at 75.  The rest are in the 100s.

According to the Democracy Index the US is 25th.  In SE Asia Thailand is the best at 78.  The rest are in the 100's.  Burma/Myanmar just had a military coup, so it is now at the bottom.

Mexico is also at thte bottom of most indexes.  If it is such a great country why do thousands feel the need to sneak over the border?

Tom, you're babbling again.

As usual when kevin doesn't have answer he resorts to insults.  He more than welcome to explain why it is a good idea to move to region of the world that is poorer & less democratic.

Tom, you're still babbling.
