How are you going to spend you check?

It doesn't matter what you do or do not spend it on. What matters is once you accept it you are practicing socialist.

I'm fine with democratic socialism, which is what is actually happening here. The initiative was crafted by democratically elected leaders. Under socialism, it would have been done by direct government decree.

The key thing to understand is that under a strictly capitalistic government, even a democratically elected one, the only option would be to let everyone starve. Helping those who, as Boilerbaby would put it, "didn't prepare for life" would actually be considered unethical. I mean, EVERYBODY should be prepared for a global disaster to the extent that they can survive for months without an income, and if they aren't, let 'em die, right?

I do expect that every conservative who has ever railed against SOOOOOOCIALISM will refuse the money---perhaps donating it to the Rush Limbaugh Memorial Turd Fund.

This is another lie- The key thing to understand is that under a strictly capitalistic government, even a democratically elected one, the only option would be to let everyone starve."

Creating exchanges for private sector health insurance companies false short of that definition too.   But that didn’t stop DonDiego from using that word .

The new definition of “socialism” is anything United States conservatives disagree with.

You know the question conservatives never answer? Exactly what the fuck is wrong with socialism anyway?

So far, we've only seen two answers from them:

1. Venezuela. Venezuela!! VENEZUELA!!!! VENEZUELA!!!!!! What about THAT, HUH??? And Hillary sent emails! Goddamn libtards!

2. That's what them Godless commies had! It wuz da Onion of Soviet Socialism Repubbleniks!

We're seeing all the wonderful benefits of our free-market capitalist run-by-kleptocrats system now.

I did forget one option--the government could sell food to the highest bidder. It would be considered immoral to just give it away.

Kevin asks - "You know the question conservatives never answer? Exactly what the fuck is wrong with socialism anyway"- This is one of the dumbest questions I have ever heard.

If you filed income taxes in 2018 or 2019, you'll get a check, unless your gross income was greater than $75K, in which case you would receive a decreased amount on a sliding scale.

Families with dependents (again, referring to prior tax returns) would receive more.

If you have direct deposit set up for tax refunds, social security, or other recurring government payments, you'll get the money that way rather than a physical check.

Its actually your "taxable income"  according to what I've now read.   Which I believe will qualify me after all !  Hooray !

Everyone under 75k gets the full amount.   Between 75-99K gets increasingly smaller amounts.   People over 99K get to still live in free AMerica instead of Venezeula.

(Taxable INcome:  For most working people this will be your annual salary minus the 12K standard deduction, 401k contributuons, and a few other, smaller deductions.)

For married filing jointly the cap is $150k

Tom, David Miller, Don and Boiler have become takers, not makers.

I'll spend my $20 (if I get that much) on scratch off tickets.   That should buy me 10 minutes of fun.  Maybe score a hit equal to or greater than the investment.  (Yeah, right.)

As of 5 minutes ago from CNN :

Under the plan as it was being negotiated, single Americans would receive $1,200, married couples would get $2,400 and parents would see $500 for each child under age 17.
However, the payments would start to phase out for individuals with adjusted gross incomes of more than $75,000, and those making more than $99,000 would not qualify at all.
The thresholds are doubled for couples.
