How Many Of You Trumpets Really Believe Trump Won?

FWIW.

The MAGA marchers, the 126 members of the House, the right-nut talk show hosts---they don't realize that refusal to acknowledge or accept the outcome of a fair and democratic election isn't expressing one's opinion--it's active treason.

Republicans are no longer Americans. That's really, really sad and disturbing.

Kevin Lewis opines:

"The MAGA marchers, the 126 members of the House, the right-nut talk show hosts---they don't realize that refusal to acknowledge or accept the outcome of a fair and democratic election isn't expressing one's opinion--it's active treason.

Umm, . . . . no.  It would seem Kevin Lewis is ill-informed regarding the "Treason Clause" within the United States Constitution

"The Constitution specifically identifies what constitutes treason against the United States and, importantly, limits the offense of treason to only two types of conduct: (1) “levying war” against the United States; or (2) “adhering to [the] enemies [of the United States], giving them aid and comfort.”

[This reference also makes clear the intent of the authors of the Constitution to limit the charge of treason specifically to avoid "false or passion-driven accusations of treason to undermine political opponents."]

Goodness ! ! !  The Founding Fathers actually foresaw the possibility of, say, Kevin Lewis attempting to simply misapply the charge of treason to those with whom he disagrees ! ! !

The intellect and prescience of the authors of the US Constitution never ceases to amaze poor old DonDiego.

The Founding Fathers likewise did not anticipate the use of taxpayer funds to bribe the officials of a foreign country to investigate the son of a political opponent--nonetheless, Trump's commission of that act was indeed treason.

DonDiego, having speciously donned the robes of a Constitutional scholar, pretends to not understand that the definitions and concepts of the Constitution have evolved since the document was written--in particular, because situations that the Founding Fathers did not anticipate have arisen.

I would argue that actively promoting the growth of a pandemic, and killing hundreds of thousands of Americans as a result, is indeed "levying war" and "giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States." The Founding Fathers did not anticipate that the enemy making war on and killing citizens of the US would be a virus--as they didn't even know such a thing existed--but they certainly would have agreed that aiding and abetting such an enemy is indeed treason.

DonDiego needs to keep in mind that the actions of Republicans in regard to the pandemic have gone well past simply indifference and apathy--which would be dereliction of duty, but not treason--to actively hampering pandemic mitigation efforts and encouraging public behavior that spreads the virus. That's treason. Full stop.

Also, I wonder: if DonDiego thinks that killing your fellow citizens isn't treasonous, what does he think it is?

I agree! The correct term is sedition.

It only calls for up to a 20-year sentence. I'm cool with that.

I'd be willing to plead it down. Twenty years cooped up with Tucker Carlson would be worse than a death sentence.
