Some people believe we never landed on the moon, some people believe that LBJ arranged the murder of Kennedy, and some people believe that space aliens are being kept in New Mexico. The problem is that no evidence exists to support these beliefs. And you are free to believe that there was fraud in this and previous elections; the problem is that there is no evidence to support that belief. I know that Trump, and Fox, and assorted sycophants repeat it constantly, but, the problem is that there is no evidence to support it. If such evidence exists, please bring it to court. Otherwise, please join the other conspiracy nuts standing in the far corner.
If only they were standing in the far corner! The sad truth is, they're right in the middle of everything, in everyone's faces, marching down the streets of Washington, bleating nonsense on alt-right "news" channels, and of course, giving deranged press conferences.
We're in a post-truth world. It has become mainstream-legitimate to simply lie about reality with bald-faced impunity. Trump and his goons never get called out on even the most obvious and egregious of their bullshit. And here on our widdle forum, we have several people who are perfectly willing to bleat nonsensical shit like "Trump won the election," even in the face of overwhelming evidence that Biden has won.
I think that part of it is cognitive dissonance. You believe something nonsensical, then it becomes apparent just how nonsenical it is, and instead of saying, "wow, I was wrong," you double down and scream the lie even louder, because that's less painful than introspection and truth. I think that's what's happening with many Trumpers now. To admit at this juncture that they've supported one of the most horrible human beings to ever walk this earth would be too painful; it's easier to keep on screaming the lie.
