How upset are you going to be?

About half of the country will be upset after the election, just how upset is the question?  If your guy loses, are you going to be really pissed, a little, not at all or suicidal?  Maybe a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most upset.

If Trump wins, I will be mildly surprised. Will I be upset? Not that much.

Whether Trump wins or loses, the systemic flaws that allowed him to become President in the first place will remain. The millions of Trumpers infesting our streets will still be there--maybe not waving signs in truck parades, but quietly building bombs in their basements. The Electoral College will still be the law of the land--that horrible artifact of slavery that allows the person who loses the election to take office. The racism and bigotry that allowed the rise of Trump will still be a major element of the social and political fabric of this country. We'll still have the existential threat of climate change to deal with. And the rich will run this country, like they always have.

For me, it's never been about Trump himself, but the people who helped create him. There's no reason why another Trump-type couldn't ascend to prominence in 2022. Or 2024. Etc. Hatred is a very strong emotion in the US, and there are legions of uneducated mouth-breathers out there, just waiting to be titillated by some populist demagogue. Get rid of Trump, someone else will inevitably follow, feeding off all the hate that is NOT going away, regardless of who wins the election.

Not at all.  "1."  Being upset doesn't accomplish anything.  If those I didn't vote for get elected, I need to become familiar with their positions on things that affect me going forward (actually all of them), let them hear from me what I need from them.

The GOP and Trump have already turned the country into a shithole. At this point it is doubtful it will be turned around. A smarter more sane version of Trump that spouts the same type of conspiracy theories and white supermecy will likely be the 2024 Republican nominee for President.

Democrats never learn.  They think if you are nice to Republicans, they will meet you halfway.

I have already made my plans to escape this shithole. In ten years I will be retired in Southeast Asia or dead, so I won't be too upset if Trump and the Republicans overthrow the legitimate government of the United States.

Mark reveals: "In ten years I will be retired in Southeast Asia or dead . . ."

What Southeast Asian locales does Mark find most inviting ?

Be prepared for massive civil unrest after this election.

If Trump wins he has already released his agenda for his next term...which is aggressively going after political opponents and an even more devisve immigration policy coupled with blue state punishments.   He hasn't released a legislative agenda because he doesn't have one.    He intends to strong arm the country with his executive powers beyond anything we have ever seen.

If Biden wins you can count on Donny Birther to start his own media network on radio or TV whereby he spends the rest of his years throwing fuel on a Civil War aimed not at any ideological purpose but rather just getting revenge for his election loss.

If you want to benefit from the next four year you might consider buying guns-and-ammo stocks.    I dont plan on taking part in the Civil unrest, but I do plan on profiting from it.

Thailand and then it is a tie between Cambodia and Vietnam. Cambodia is a cheaper Thailand but with no beach. Vietnam is an up-and-coming place for ex-pats with beautiful beaches.  If I want to go really cheap there is Yangon.

Regional airfares in that area are dirt cheap. You can go to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, China and so on for $70 or less RT from Bangkok.

At current pricing, I can get a 1-bedroom condo rental in a nice area of Bangkok right off the BTS (Skytrain) for $260 a month and I can eat out 3-meals a day for $10 or less. Public and private transportation is cheap and everywhere. If I get tired of that, I can buy a new Honda Click for $2500 or one that is 2-3 years old for $1000 or so.

I wouldn't be too worried about Donny birther starting his own cable network as he will be broke and tied up in the courtroom trying to fend off both Civil and Criminal cases. New York state is going after him for tax fraud.

What you have to worry about is a smart, sane and competent Trump-like figure implementing an authoritarian fascist system here in the US after 2024. Donny has given the Republican party the blueprint for getting elected and the conservative media believes in that blueprint. A future Republican candidate has to embrace conspiracy theories and be willing to implement White Nationalist policies if they want the nomination.

I wish the Lincoln Project luck in trying to build a new conservative party based on fiscal conservatism and modern social views, but I suspect they won't be able to get it off the ground as the conservative media won't by in.  Peddling conspiracy theories and promoting white supremacy is simply more profitable than talking about why your boss needs a tax cut.

PJ Stroh Suggests: "Be prepared for massive civil unrest after this election."

Indeed !

The folks at Shut Down DC have published their plans.  And they encourage their supporters to "Come up with a plan to create serious disruption if Trump really tries to steal the election!"

Persons interested in participting are invited to BLM Plaza.

DonDiego deploys the very, very tired Trumpian false equivalency argument to somehow convince us that the threat of violence from the left is somehow equal to that from the right.

When Trump loses, it's the Trumper militias that will be creating the civil unrest--at Trump's direction. If Trump wins, you're not going to see much of that from Biden supporters.

DonDiego should really abandon his racist ideologies; he focuses obsessively on violence (real and hypothetical) committed by Black protestors to the exclusion of violence committed against the Black community. Black protestors are all "rioters." The little boy who drove up to Kenosha and murdered two people is a "patriot." Yeah, right.
