Actually, there was a LOT of complaining, on both sides. But construct your own version of history as you wish.
Also, you should probably stop the "what about Hillary????" horsecrap whenever we point out something awful or stupid Trump has done. It's making you look even more stupid than usual.

Above are Hillary's qualifications when Obama named her Secretary of State. Liberals didn't make a peep about her lack of experience.
Visiting over a hundred countries in diplomatic visits as first lady and Senator and being on a first name basis with every major world leader prior to taking that office isn't a qualification? Damn.
I believe both sides of the isle nominate people who are not qualified to goverment positions. Basically their job is to schmooze with others and promote the Presidents agenda. The real reason most opponents hate the appointment is we hate the agenda.

I don't think that's the historical norm. Most of the time, the person nominated is well qualified. The Trump administration has changed that to a new normal--Trump nominates a person based on the sole criterion of slavish loyalty and the Republican Senate rubber-stamps him.

I disagree. Most of these appointees on both sides are picked from a good ol boys club of freinds and people they owe favors too. If people were picked because of their qualifications only, why arent people appointed who are the most qualified even if they"re from the opposition party?

I didn't say they were nominated/appointed only because of their qualifications. I said that up until the Trump adminstration, qualifications were the primary criteria. Just about everyone in the Obama administration was highly qualified and competent. Practically no one in the Trump administration is either qualified OR competent.
As to why a qualified candidate is never chosen from the opposition party--well, Republicans' behavior should tell you that, and you should be aware that Obama appointed several Republicans to high-ranking government positions.

Its way worse than "not being qualified". Many of his appointees are ideologically oppossed to the departments they are given authority over.
-His Secretary of Education does not believe in public education.
-His EPA Administrator was a lobbiest for the Fossil Fuel industry...and sued the EPA before his appointment
-His Secretary of the Interior wants to surrender the lands he is in charge of protecting to the Oil and Gas industry
-His chosen Director of the Consumer Protection Bureau was against that entire department's existance
-His Attorney General overturns investigations and sentencing recommendations from its own prosecutors
-His state department has a mass exodus of lifetime public servants in protest of his corrupt dealings in Ukraine and breaking alliances with NATO

Obama's appointed for the position helped weaponize the government against Trump, yet Liberals claim that he was qualified.

Then Melania Trump would be qualified if nominated for Secretary of State?
