Of course not. They're much more about virtue signaling and ideological purity. They've done nothing but bitch bitch bitch over the last two years but have never said what their magic solution to the world's problems would be if only we shoved them into power. Now, it's time for them to put up or shut up.
Granted, their "solutions" will be along the lines of "kill all immigrants," "stop the inferior races from voting," and "don't teach CRT to little Johnny." Oh, and a massive investigation into Hunter Biden's mythical radioactive laptop. What a pathetic bunch of clowns.

Your second paragraph there is rife with untruths. Which R's have touted those campaign solutions ..killing immigrants, no votes for inferior races ( whom said which race was more inferior?), etc? Those arguments might have been quietly relevant several decades ago for a very limited few, but they couldn't get elected in today's era making such claims. The affiliated liberal media would destroy such candidates. So, you perhaps over-exxagerated your descriptions..that it? You can completely disregard any Hunter's laptop facts if you choose to..because they're going to emerge..painstakingly and publicly. I'll admit the incessant process associated with a public hearing platform to produce any facts is somewhat annoying, though. I felt the same way about the Jan 6 hearings , too.
Yeah, your Speaker choice argument has some validity; they'll trade amongst themselves for pipelines, unknown legislative earmarks, a new sidewalk or memorial in their hometown/s, maybe a lifetime supply of EV batteries for relatives...who knows. This aspect is about individual and collective power platforms within the party.. silly but common, unfortunately. Don't think the liberals haven't also practiced this type of chicanery as well amongst themselves ( though perhaps not regarding the choice of Pelosi as speaker).
Speaker is going to a second vote for the first time in 100 years.

Correct. The former GOP is filled with crazies, traitors, liars. grifters and grandstanders. They even have a pedo that they won't do anything about.

True. Maybe they'll do it quickly ( for their own sake).
The Democrat leader got more votes for speaker than McCarthy. 😂

Charles, maybe if you stop the average Republican voter in the street and ask him why he affiliates himself with them, you'll get sober-sounding answers like national security, fiscal prudence, abortion, religious freedom, etc.--but that's only because it's not de rigeur to directly articulate the REAL reasons: race hatred/"replacement theory", class warfare, resentment over environmental policies, resentment that the Christian God myth isn't force-taught in schools, etc. etc. etc. In actuality, the RepubliQ have shown a horrifying willingness to blot out democracy in order to achieve their ideological goals. They've also been shockingly immoral and un-American, especially for a party that styles itself as the bastion of noble American righteousness.
In other words, don't be fooled just because Jim Crow shaved and is now wearing a suit and tie.
And Hunter's laptop "issue" is going to die a laughable death, though not without consuming tens of millions of taxpayer dollars (oh yeah, the party of fiscal prudence) and wasting thousands of hours that could have been used constructively.

Yes, but not enough votes (218), as we'd fully expect. I admit..the R's appear stupid as a group on this Speaker issue. The ultra-conservative wing members ( Jordan and Biggs, etc.) really detest McCarthy ( an establishment type who backed/ pulled enough R votes for the recent $1.7T omnibus bill passage..which Jordan's lot didn't approve of). Toward the end of the debate prior to the second vote, Jordan publicly spoke for the group to back McCarthy..it didn't work but at least he tried to forge some unity. Maybe they should just have a few whiskies and have an arm wrestling event. Or listen to the wealthy R donors and make a damned decision.
Honestly, I kinda like Jordan..we'll see what happens..if and when.

How many bills did Gym Jordan introduce since he was elected in 2007?
