Interesting story about the two Michigan dam failures

You're saying the dam failed because regulateors required the it to be in compliance with safety and environmental regulations?   Oh wait - I just saw your source.  Nevermind.

Boilerman, you've posted on this board that our infrastructure is fine...and calls to update are some sort of unnecesaary waste of money.   Here you have two dams that have been known to be in disrepair for decades and were ultimately sold to private owners under the ideology that the private sector can manage infrastructure better than government.   And now towns are in ruin.

How many bridges need to collapse, dams break, power outages occur before the free-shit conservatives realize that fixing those things costs money?

I suggest that Liberals in Michigan should have done what was needed to prevent the dams failure.

Trying to figure if Boil or Davie looks dumber in this thread....

*coin toss*

"Looks" is one thing, being dumb, such as you are, is another - no coin toss necessary.

DING! DING! DING!

We have a winner!!!

Congrats, Davie-boy. You win the blow-up rubber trump doll patch kit.

Always the liberal "blame game" - while flooding ruins everything in it's path. Apparently warnings about these structures were not enough to get the DemocRats to take the necessary actions. Liberals always deflecting their blame , pointing fingers at others while not accepting responsibility for their lack of action. Status quo, nothing new here. Now who are the liberals going to blame for the death of the protected mussels - I am sure before all is said and done, President Trump will be blamed, right Kevin?

how come the liberal democrats of Mochigan’s Government are responsible for the upkeep of a privately owned dam?   Unless your just to embarrassed to admit the obvious accountability here

PJ, I liken this to a broke company not being able to pay their employee retirement promises.  If the company is broke, they can't pay money that doesn't exist.  I've not heard the specifics on the dam owners financial situation, but assuming the piggy bank is empty, then how can they pay for improvements?  The state knew of the danger.  The dam owner knew of the danger and vocalized the danger.  Key Democrats chose the safety of mussles over the safety of people and their property.

Being overlooked in all these hypocritical Trumper bleats is the fact that Republicans run Michigan.

Kevin, was the dams owner sueing state to be allowed to lower the level of water behind the dam?  Were those who demanded that water levels be kept high Democrats?  Enough said.

What's "sueing"? Is it calling someone Sue?

Huh? So then if I am an Amusement operator .... or a Coal Mine operator....I can let my business be a death trap for my workers and guests because I dont have enogh money to make it safe?    Thats your argument?

Safety regulations dont exist on a conditional basis.  If you cant abide them then declare bankruptcy and sell your business to someone who can.

Regardless, it sure as hell isn't the government's fault that a private business failed to make its own assetts safe and in compliance with state regulations.
