But...but...but...DonDiego, Supreme Leader Trump has told us there's nothing to worry about! He says that we should go ahead and mingle with our fellow citizens even if we have the virus! Clearly, the coronavirus is harmless! And Fluffy Attack Dog Pence is on the job!

I don't understand why DonDiego is worried...when President Trump has told him he shouldn't be.

Kevin Lewis expresses surprise over poor old DonDiego's worriment over the corona virus, since President Trump has expressed little concern.

DonDiego expects a significant impact of the new corona virus on the health of citizens around the world, including the USA.  His opinion differs from President Trump's.

[ Ya'know, . . . if'n a fella was to always agree with everything that, say a single President or a single political party, tells him to agree with, he'd likely not be able to think for hisself at all after a while.  Poor old DonDiego's seen it happen before - even right here in the LVA Fora ! ]

Poor old DonDiego opines the virus impacts will affect not only health, but citizens' daily routines, . . . and DonDiego wouldn't be surprised by significant impacts and secondary effects on economies/trade/commerce 'round the world. 

Poor old DonDiego is likely to survive, although he is a mite old, . . . but then again he is ever the optimist.  DonDiego hopes everybody on LVA makes it to the other side !

Like Trump, Don is a bit behind the curve on this one. There still isn't more than token testing being done at the Federal Level. Trump had two months to prepare for this. Thousands of people will needlessly die because Trump didn't think to have testing kits available. As a result of the lack of testing, we have no ability to contain the virus. Most experts think there are already 1,000s if not 10,000s of cases in the Seattle area alone. 

Because of the complete collapse of Trump's government response, Washington State developed its own test which they will begin using sometime within the next few days. 

Actually Mark if your accusation that there are 10K casses in Washington is correct, then you are proving Trumps point that its not as deadly as everyone thinks it is. Do the math, more infected divided by less deaths equals a lower death rate percentage.

It is not an accusation. It what some medical and scientific types are saying.  If there aren't more cases out there than are being reported, how do you explain our current mortality rate of 7% which is twice is bad as mainland China and Iran?  How do you explain having only a few hundred test kits on hand when you have known this crisis was coming for two months?  

This was reported today. 

“As a nurse, I’m very concerned that not enough is being done to stop the spread of the coronavirus,” the nurse wrote in a statement shared by their union, the California Nurses Association. 

“I know because I am currently sick and in quarantine after caring for a patient who tested positive. I’m awaiting ‘permission’ from the federal government to allow for my testing, even after my physician and county health professional ordered it.”  Source

There you have it. We aren't even testing people who get sick treating confirmed cases in a healthcare setting. How do you explain that?  It is either Trump trying to intentionally hold the numbers down so he doesn't look bad or gross incompetence the scope of which this country has never seen.  Either way, thousands of people are going to die because Trump didn't undertake any effort to contain the virus like they have in every other country.  

??? That's silly. In the early stages of any pandemic, relatively few people are infected. At this point, if there are 10,000 people infected, how many people in total have they touched, breathed on, or otherwise transmitted the virus? It's a certainty that the number of confirmed cases will go way up. As soon as there are testing kits, that is. The number of cases that can be confirmed is limited by the number of test kits available! And many of those infected haven't died yet--we won't know the final death rate until all this is over.

Mark didn't "accuse" anybody re the number of cases--he reported a simple fact. Trump's statement that the coronavirus has a low mortality rate is likewise demonstrably incorrect. You "do the math," the death rate is seven times what Trump thinks it is (so far).
