My Theory

How about the theory that since the elderly have most of the savings and will be wasting it on end of life care, not to mention the cost of future social security payments, it would be wise to kill them off, save the payments, and transfer the wealth?

That would be very Republican/Trumpian/Social Darwinian. It would also solve the problem of Social Security and Medicare being drastically underfunded due to Trump's tax cuts.

The only reason it wouldn't sell is that a disproportionate number of the elderly are Trumpers/part of "the base." Not that Trump wouldn't betray them in a heartbeat, but he wouldn't kill them off until after the election.

Mark's theory is plausible if one makes the assumption that Trump and his stooges simply don't care. I think that the truth is more like they're incompetent and they know it, and are dealing with it at this point by flying the white flag and sorta kinda letting the grownups take care of it.

This is encouraging. By far, the most helpful thing Trump can do now is stay out of the way. He screwed the pooch on actual leadership and constructive action some time ago.

I agree with Kevin in that this won't be the Trump/Republican plan because their base is old white voters.

They don't want them to die off. In reality, we will probably spend an incredible amount of money to save as many of them as we can.

I think it is best we move away from for-profit healthcare so we don't have to tempt Republican looters with quandaries like this. We all know what eventually wins out in the minds of most republicans.
