Really, really stupid comparison. Benzene is much, much less toxic than vinyl chloride, and when we're pumping gas, only trace quantities of it escape into the atmosphere. If you pour a bunch of VC on the ground, ALL of it will contaminate the surrounding environment.
Oh, by the way, about chemicals in gasoline: the progressive, environmentally conscious states mandate that collars that prevent gases from escaping be installed on all gas pump nozzles. The shitbag place you live doesn't.
