Real Estate and Poor Old DonDiego

Poor old DonDiego and teechur have recently taken up residence in a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee.  And it looks like the timing was right on !

Ref: As U.S. Cities Crumble, Demand for Rural and Suburban Properties is Soaring

Oh, . . . and by the way, poor old DonDiego has a lovely home on a ridge in northeast Tennessee with an absolutely fantastic view available for sale and immediate occupancy.  It likely won't last long.

If you can't trust https://endoftheamericandream.com, who can you trust?

Many people in NYC have left during the pandemic.

Since many people have stopped paying rent, there is a working theory, that many of those who lost their jobs have permanently left.

Those that are now permanently working remotely will move away.

Does that mean that blue states like New York can stop subsidizing our welfare states, you know, like Tennessee, Mississippi, and other red states?

Goodness !

DonDiego certainly hopes not !

You know, this "everyone is fleeing the cities" nonsense was old hat in 1920. Every time there has been an economic downturn, the pundits have popped up their heads, like a game of whack-a-mole. Saying that US cities are "crumbling" is alarmist hyperbole. But it sounds good to some people.

DonDiego might consider that life in Tennessee might not be so rosy as in the past, given that with the contracting economy, the rivers of taxpayer money that have so reliably poured into his state over the years might be drying up. When New York can no longer pay Tennessee's bills, sales of Jack Daniels can only go so far. And the demand for country music is also diminishing as more and more of the country completes a high school education.

Thats Hermitage country.      I could go for some Hattie-B's right about now.

They may not be able to spell there, and they may be Trumpers, but dang, they make some awesome fried chicken. Nashville Hot. Almost makes you glad you're in Nashville. Almost.

In general, I love Southern cooking. Fry everything. Make it spicy. Cook as if you were trying to reduce everyone's life expectancy. Catfish and shrimp and crawfish. Bring it on!
