@PJ Stroh...I'm not going to dig out the few article sources I've encountered that lend support to real defunding in certain  metro area police departments. Rather, I'll just agree to disagree with you regarding my characterization of what I surmised from reading a limited number that addressed the issue. Further, I'd hope to agree with you regarding how important it is for all of us to consider the sources we use to underly any argument on any issue. Let's face it..there's a ton of erroneous info floating around out there. Arriving at the so-called 'truth' from media sources is a huge challenge..that includes Fox News, imo.

I won't disagree with you regarding instances of stat-backed oppression of certain ethnicities by some police departments..the evidence is too strong over a long period of time. I choose to use terms other than ' racism' because I've seen that term used too many times by politicians and media reps. I'm just plain worn out with its overuse by both sides of the political landscape and the media. That doesn't mean some of the described and factual oppressive trends observed in some PD's over a lengthy span of time weren't wrong. They were.

I have no idea if anybody with the FBI planted documents anywhere, including MaraLago. I wasn't there so it's impossible for me to know the truth.

More importantly, do you think I should surrender (if allowed) my hard 17 count against a dealer ace in an H17 multi-deck blackjack game next week? Think I might.

The list is a lie. The police have not been "defunded" anywhere. Budget cuts have been made in some cities, averaging about 5%. That's far from the conservitard fantasy "defunding" meme.

In contrast, the Republican party wants to COMPLETELY defund--as in, eliminate--the FBI.

The truth is that the police have not been "defunded" anywhere. Defunded means deprived of funding--not having funding reduced.

But conservitards have been blowing the "liberals are soft on crime" horn for decades, so whether this idiot meme even remotely resembles the truth is a secondary consideration.

Conservitards have redefined the term to mean "remove all funding."

And "withdraw funding" doesn't mean to REDUCE funding (which is what has actually happened).

Like I said - I'm sure you can find legitimate examples of defunding the police. If you want to base an argument on anecdotes then feel free.   Its not a legitimate narrative of the collective.

Lets applaud David MIller for one of the few times he's evere contributed anything useful on this board.   You can read his list for what conservatives falsely claim is  "defunding the police".  In actuality its just shifting resources from police to specialists.   Cops arent trained to deal with schizophrenic, autistic, or people with PTSD.    Some cities (rightly in my view) now have specialists who are trained to go in as firt reponders to those kinds of situations.     Thats a good thing - and thats not the root of problems like you saw in San Francisco.

And it when it comes to not knowing who to believe with the FBI at MaraLago - .   How about we use this for a guiding standard?  Anyone who makes an accusation about planted documents should be able to back it up beyond the accussed person simply saying so.....especially when the accussed is the same guy who ran into office on Obama's fake birth certificate.     Some people have more integrity than others dont you think?
