So Ted ''Cancun'' Cruz was cheating on Heidi with Lauren Boebert?

Todd, go ahead and pick any one sentence about anything I ever write. I'll either defend it, explain it, or apologize for it. What I won't do is run away from it.

In 2002, when a bunch of mostly far left-wingers decided to spread the rumor that 9/11 was an inside job engineered by Bush, the DailyKos had a great solution. They banned everyone who posted that unsubstantiated rumor. And I remember people there bragging that they were a "reality-based" community. And they still shut down members who just make shit up.

Twenty years later, the DK is a very big, very successful gathering spot for liberal Democrats. And all of the left-wing blogs that shouted that "Dick Cheney eats babies for breakfast" etc. are extinct. As it should be.

That's where I get my outlook on this.

Frankly, if Boebert was framed for murder and dragged away, I'd applaud. It's time we stopped being the only side that fights fair.

When it comes to preserving our democracy, the end does in fact justify the means. After all, the RepubliQ has decided that the end justifies the means in order to seize and retain absolute power and create a totalitarian theocracy. We have to fight dirty, too, or we'll lose.

Besides, I kind of like the irony of a RepubliQ bitch being dragged down by false rumors and bullshit internet memes. She's tried to do that to dozens of other people. Sauce for the gander, and all that.

Also--I kind of like the idea of a liberal counter-Fox News. We don't have a news channel that's as far off-plumb and biased as Fox News. Probably due to that silly liberal obsession with the truth. Let's change gears. Attack, smear, lie, fabricate, and just plain make shit up. Let's cut out the Marquis of Queensbury shit when fighting an opponent who's more than willing to kick us in the balls.

I dont want to have to choose sides between two propoganda sources that sell batshit to the public.   I like that Democrats largely stick to facts.  There's something to be said for standing on higher ground.     We already have one party that doesnt care about policy and pushes conspiracies to maintain power.   

I like that Democats try and sell solutions to problems  to get votes  instead of selling  conpsiracy theories, culture wars, and white replacement theory.     We were a better country when Republicans did that too.   Rupert Murdoch and Newt Gingrich changed that for the worse...and look at the cluster fuck Republicans are now.  WHy would anyone want to choose that path?

I respectfully disagree. This is an existential issue. Our freedom is going to die as we stick to our moral scruples. I think of it in the same terms as: what would a country do if it was losing a war to an invading enemy who is going to kill every man, woman, and child? Would they break out the poison gas? Tactical nukes? Or would they say, "Those weapons are wrong" and raise the white flag?

You see, the RepubliQ doesn't care about solutions to problems, except that they oppose solutions that would make people's lives better--those people would usually vote Democrat, after all. So if we try to make a reasoned and rational case for improving things, that will absolutely fall on deaf ears. If it doesn't increase the RepubliQ's power, they're not interested.

If we had our own Batshit News channel, of course you or I could and would regard it with the same amusement and contempt that we current harbor for Fox News. But at least some people, somewhere, who would have otherwise gone RepubliQ, will take its content seriously. You know how most elections these days are essentially decided by maybe 5-10% of voters (the ones whose views aren't chiseled in granite)? Let's do whatever we can to get the wackadoodles on our side for once. I see nothing to indicate that the goobers who slurp up Fox News couldn't be persuaded to believe what they hear on the Batshit Channel instead.
