The Trump administration has removed 186,000 dead people from the SNAP (food stamps) program.

I believe that all of them voted DemocRAT. ---- These were individuals who had passed away but were still listed as active recipients, draining taxpayer dollars for years under previous mismanagement. This cleanup is part of a broader effort to restore integrity to the program. For too long, SNAP has been riddled with duplicate enrollments, improper payments, and outright fraud while working American families foot the bill. Ending benefits for the deceased is basic common sense and a strong first step toward making sure assistance goes only to those who are truly eligible and alive. Fraud ends under President Trump. Taxpayers deserve a government that spends their money responsibly, not one that lets dead people keep collecting benefits. This is exactly the kind of accountability the American people voted for. ---   https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=921460377318423&set=a.136629145801554

Even if this was true, it wouldn't make any difference, as a dead person won't spend SNAP benefits. The cards need PINs to work, so no one else would be able to use them.

Every state that administers SNAP has a policy that unused benefits are canceled and the recipient's account closed if there are no charges to the account for a certain period of time, usually six months.

State SNAP agencies are not always notified of beneficiaries' deaths, thus the above policy. David's idiot Facebook rando is ignorant and full of shit.

The cards need PINs to work, so no one else would be able to use them.

It's called fraud.  People get the PIN and then use or sell the card.

If you actually "think" that those who fraudlently have access to these accounts don't also have access to the pin numbers - than you are more ignorant that I thought.

So if they know the people are dead then they can do an audit and see how many of them used the program after they died.    And you have a number, right?  RIGHT?

And how do they "get the PIN" from a dead person? Hold a seance?

Just like bank debit cards, SNAP cards will be locked out of the system if three consecutive incorrect PINs are entered. If they're used at an ATM to withdraw cash benefits, the machine will confiscate the card as well

States also cross-check vital records and share data with Social Security. While there is undoubtedly some fraud, it's nowhere near as prevalent as MAGA propaganda or stupid Tom says it is.

Stupid Tom doesn't care about fraud when his orange master stuffs billions of taxpayer dollars into his pockets. He only cares about somebody fraudulently buying groceries.

Why would they know the PIN of a stolen card?

A friend or relative of a person who recently died might be able to use their card once or twice, IF they correctly guessed the PIN,  before the death is reported and entered into state data banks. After that, the card won't be valid.

If a card is stolen, the thief won't be able to guess the PIN.

Of course not! Millerscum's post was nothing more than the usual bleating of an ignorant Facebook rando asshole.

When people die, they don't evaporate. Their deaths are recorded and entered into local and state registries. ALL state agencies that dispensed benefits to the deceased are notified. The process usually takes 4-6 weeks in Oregon.

Thus, somebody who a) steals the card b) knows the PIN c) is willing to commit a felony can siphon off maybe a month's worth of benefits before the account is canceled  MAGA need not get their panties in a bunch.

People commit crimes--Trump was convicted of committing 34 of them.  They steal cars, rob banks, embezzle, lie on loan applications.  Yet, the only crimes you seem interested in are those involving fraud of government programs.  Why is that?

Wow nobody would ever think to steal a PIN number.

In 2024, the Consumer Sentinel Network reported over 6.47 million reports related to fraud and identity theft, indicating a significant increase in such incident
