Trump: Don't worry, and try not to die, unless you're a Democrat

First, tell us what "not prepared for life" means. According to whom? According to whose standards? Yours?? Then tell us how people are supposed to be able to foresee the future.

And y'know, if someone was sick, or dying, or broke, or in some kind of dire straits, and asked me for help, I wouldn't stand over them, holding what they needed in my closed fist, and ask sternly, "Why didn't you prepare for life?" I'd just give them what they needed, without stopping to consider whether they "deserved" it or not.

But I guess that's the difference between me and you.

I loathe your nasty-old-white-man viewpoints, your lack of compassion, and your lack of humanity. So--and I say this with all sincerity--piss off.

One who is able bodied yet doesn't make enough money to pay for his needs, much less provide for offspring.

And Kevin, you would stand over the dying person and demand that someone else pay for his needs.

DonDiego may not be aware that having medical insurance is a safety net with many holes in it.

You can be canceled. The company can go out of business. The company can raise your rates beyond the point where you can afford them. You can max out your benefits (that happens a LOT). You can accumulate copays to the point where they are an intolerable financial burden. You can develop a condition that isn't covered. The company that you work for may go out of business, and you won't necessarily be able to continue your insurance--or the rates will double, because your employer won't be contributing any more.

Furthermore, you could develop a condition that is treated perfectly well and covered by insurance, but still, you cannot work for an extended period. The mortgage and other bills will still have to be paid. Living with no income for six months--or a year--or longer is difficult at best and impossible at worst. Insurance won't cover loss of earnings.

My point seems to have zoomed over DonDiego's head, so I'll state it baldly. Medical insurance is not a panacea, and the only real "insurance policy" one can have is lots and lots and lots of money in the bank, which is far beyond the capabilities of most people, given what most jobs pay. This means that there will always be people who, for one reason or another, cannot obtain medical care--under the present system.

I consider that to be morally wrong. I wish more people did as well.

Idiot, being "able-bodied" in today's economy only means that you can shovel shit and earn minimum wage. It's a standard nasty old white man meme that everyone is capable of earning a good income and those who don't should be euthanized.

I would, in fact, in the long run, insist that everyone else help out. But in the short run, I wouldn't stand in judgment over the dying man and weigh his "worthiness"--I would just give him what he needs.

You would let him die.

An able bodied person is one, who if he puts effort into preparing for life, would be able to buy insurance, hold down a good job, buy food, pay for a home, and pay for other needs.

And Kevin, I suspect that I've given more to charity in my life than you've even considered.

You show such utter ignorance, combined with nasty old white man evil, that it's futile to try to educate you. At your age, you can't be taught basic decency and morality.

And don't lie to us. You've never given a penny to charity in your life--because that would be "free shit."

Go ahead and respond with some idiotic diatribe--I'm done talking to you. You evil, amoral old man. Thank God your kind is dying out.

Kevin Lewis writes:

"I'm not sure what fictional Universe Don Diego lived in prior to Medicare where there was some kind of private sector equivalent.   The ONLY reason DonDiego is not bankrupt with medical bills is because of the non-profit, socialist healthcare program known as Medicare which undertook the completely non-profitable venture of insuring people with the ultimate pre-existing condition known as 'old age'. "

Sadly, . . . and again, . . . Kevin Lewis is wrong.  (Why does he persist in saying things that just are not so ! ! !   Wait a minute, . . . wait . . . a . . . minute !  DonDiego just figured it out; Kevin Lewis has been brainwashed by the Democrat Party ! ! !)

[Oh, here's some history of poor old DonDiego's fictional universe, courtesy of NPR addressing the history of health care in the USA: US Health System]

And here's some real DonDiego history:

When poor little DonDiego was growing up in Pennsylvania in the 1950s his father's employer The Bethlehem Steel Corporation provided group health insurance to its employees.  This was quite fortuitous, as his Mother had many medical expenses over her life - all covered.

DonDiego's first employment following his college graduation offered group health insurance.  This was in 1970.  DonDiego purchased it.  He was in Texas.

Unfortunately, the creation of the Vietnam War Selective Service intervened the following year, and poor old DonDiego joined the Navy as an alternative to being drafted into the Army.

Had poor young DonDiego required significant medical care, the Navy would've provided it. He was in Virginia.

Post military service poor old DonDiego returned to the job he'd held briefly right out of college. He chose to be covered by the group health insurance again. He was in several States over his career.

All of his civilian life, DonDiego has been covered by group health insurance - more often than not  Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Sometime around the turn of the century poor old DonDiego retired. He retains coverage under Blue Cross/Blue Shield within his retirement plan for his wife and himself.

Life is good.

Kevin, that is how one prepares for life.  It begins with earning an education which employers find valuable.  Then add in some hard work and show up each day.  That, on it's own, is enough to have a comfortable life and no need for free shit.  Add some serious innitiative, and you'll make a ton of money as you move up the ladder.  Most successful folks are not the smartest, but they work hard.

"DonDiego echoes Boilerman's contention that people should "prepare for life" and be able to see the future so that they will know if they will have a serious accident or develop a life-threatening condition. That preparation must of necessity include setting aside several hundred thousand dollars to not only pay for the treatment necessary, but also to be able to survive financially for several months or even years".

Actually we have "prepared for life" by paying into the social security/medicare system for over 40 years.
And thank god it was there since I have had some heart issues over the last 6 monthes which otherwise would have put me in the poor house if not for medicare.
I will never understand the republican mentallity of "I got mine so fuck you!"

Yep!! That's exactly my point!

I encourage all to earn an education that holds great value with employers.  I then encourage these people to go and "get their own".  It's not rocket science, but instead just some hard work.
