Trump Is Going To Force Schools To Open

Actually I meant to say I think Mark's idea has merit.

Use some creativity.   Maybe start half the classroom class in September, the other half online.  Flip flop them after Christmas break.  And so on.  That would cut down on the crowding.   Maybe alternate the between class mad scramble times.  Like the bell goes off, only half change classrooms, then 15 minutes later the other half.  Didn't they used to alternate cafeteria times back in the day?

Look for sacred cows that could be butchered for a better process.

How about online classes inside the brick and mortar?   Aren't they doing a lot of that anyway?

Oh, hell, I really don't know what I'm talking about.

True that, but keep talking, it's something....

Kids becoming educated is a terrible thing, after all.

Not as much as kids being educated in watching their grandparents die because a *president cares more about being re-elected than the health of Americans.

Try harder, Boil.

Kids dying is even more terrible. Kids infecting their parents and grandparents, who then die, is also terrible.

But you've already come out in favor of death. Sorry, I'd rather see a kid whose education has been held back for a year than a dead kid.

I think we do have a very simple metric. We want to keep our kids safe. Opening up schools while we are still lacking a vaccine or even a reliable treatment is putting them in danger. Therefore, we shouldn't do it.

We do have one salient advantage that we didn't have not so long ago! Every kid is intimately familiar with computers--usually, much more adept than their parents!--and most households have computers and internet access. So distance learning is much easier than it ever has been!

Well, I do know the moms are going nuts with the kids at home and want school to start yesterday.

You speak for America's mothers now?

Toad, rudely asksYou speak for America's mothers now?" -- Being a woman, I believe that Candy has a better perspective about mothers and kids than toad will ever comprehend.  One thing we know for sure here, toad speaks for morons and lying liberals - since he is one.

Sure. But when push comes to shove, are they willing to put them in danger to get rid of them for a few hours every day?

Likewise, we're all going nuts with not being able to do this, that, and the other. I had some great plans for this summer--those plans are toast. I like plays and baseball games and concerts and folk festivals and camping. I like libraries. I enjoy dining in restaurants. All that's gone or severely curtailed.

Life is a bitch right now. But if we fight it, we just put ourselves and others in danger, for no purpose. Families have to figure out ways to cope. If we open up schools, we get infection rates of what---5%? That leads to, say, 0.02% deaths? Would we be willing to lose 75,000 of our children (or whatever the actual number would be)?

This is a terrible question, and should be answered at a local and ultimately, an individual level, which is why Trump's bully-boy statements on the issue have been so disgusting.
