US Economy Doing Well

Obama’s 2016 gdp was 1.6%, not a good number.

His post recession recovery was one of the worst.

Boilerman inquires: "What's the unemployment rate for blacks under Trump versus previous administrations?"

In August and September the BLS statistics indicate the Black unemployment rate held steady at 5.5%.

In October the Black Unemployment fell to 5.4% - a new record low!  EVER !

In November the Black Unemployment stood at 5.5%.

Ooo...you've backpeddled to now cherry picking  individual quarters?

It was 5% in 2014 Q2 !   Snap !

Whats the new metric going to be for judging Obama?

Golf is out.    Vacation days is out.

sub 3% gdp is out.

Socialist trade policy is out.

Meeting North Korea without preconditions is out.

not getting tough on Russia/Ukraine is out

executive orders is out

hiding behind executive privilege is out

So whats next?  What other talking point did Tom complain about 4 years ago that he's 180'ed on now?

Has anyone been keeping track of Trump's flag pin?   Somebody throw Tom a bone.

How do you know what is good or bad under any given set of circumstances? Are you an economist? Do you have even the vaguest idea what a "good number" is, and why?

The economy when Obama was president can't meaningfully be compared to the economy since Trump was elected because Obama inherited a deep national and global recession, while Trump inherited a healthy economy. Also, one period is eight years long; the other is three years long.

But why use logic, facts, or reason--just say that Trump is the bigliest most economist President EVER and chant MAGAMAGAMAGA until you turn blue and faint. That way, you won't have to think, which is something you shouldn't attempt.

Black unemployment has been falling at a fairly steady rate since it reached a high in 2011. In other words, Trump is taking credit for a trend that started five years before he took office--during the OBAMA adminstration.

I have yet to hear from any of you Trumpers what it is that Trump supposedly has done for black workers. The best you can say is that his efforts to destroy the economy have so far been unsuccessful. I know that Trump's boasting about the economy has been one of his major bloviations, but he loves to take credit for anything that has happened while he's been President, like the sun rising every morning. By Trump logic, we should blame him for every hurricane, earthquake, wildfire, and tsunami. Because if it happens while he's President, he caused it. (Or does that apply only to good things???)

All Trumper bullshit aside, the overall low unemployment rates can be attributed to Fed policies that have kept prime interest rates at or near zero. Trump hasn't fucked with that. That's his bigly accomplishment. But loyal Republicans will join their hero in crowing about his failure to screw up the economy.

As usual when faced with facts, Kevin ignores or says they don’t count

obama’s gdp was among the lowest ever including presidents who had recessions.

His post recovery gdp was the lowest ever.

The only "fact" you're trying to prove is that Trump is a bigly genius and Obama was a horrible failure.

Your "facts" include labeling the GDP when Obama was President as "Obama's GDP," which is as stupid as referring to the weather during his Presidency as "Obama's weather." Or referring to the price of fuel then as "Obama's gas prices."

I said before, though maybe you didn't understand, that comparing the GDP 2008-2016 and 2017-2019 is an apples-and-oranges comparison. We don't know how the Trump administration would have handled a weak economy trying to recover from a recession, as was the case when Obama took office.

So why don't you stop the rah-rah for Trump nonsense until we see the long-term effects of his trade wars and massive deficits. He's essentially borrowed trillions of dollars to pump up the economy so that he can brag about it before the next election. He's no different than someone who has mortgaged his house to buy a shiny new sports car to impress the neighbors.

Kevin ignores the facts.

The gdp is the standard all presidents are measured by.

Kevin is also ignoring the trillions Obama borrowed.

Measured by you, maybe. Not by anyone else with a brain.

The next step for Kevin when he is losing the argument is to insult.
