What happens when Republicans run things

Yes, Tom. Believe any "news" source that tells you what you want to hear.

The event that you describe--"the California grid went down"--never happened, except in your own confused little mind.

There were no brownouts in California last summer?  Up to 15% or 6,000mw of the grid went offline

Rolling brownouts are not the same as "the California grid went down." You're babbling.

Also, Tommie-poo---why would solar and wind plants have to be shut down due to fires? They aren't in wooded areas, and grass, etc. is cleared around those sites. Furthermore, the fires, even at their peak, affected much less than 1% of California's total land area--so how would they have affected solar or wind power sources to the extent that the power grid was significantly affected?

Ah, crap, I'm speaking like I'm talking to a rational person. Force of habit.

Kevin, what is the differene between the California power outages and the Texas outages.

Do you really want an answer? You're not so thick that you can't tell the difference.

Though I will give you one answer. In California, people's electrical bills weren't increased by TEN THOUSAND PERCENT.

How about the people that didn't buy home owner's insurance in California?  How did that work out?

Nevermind.  The analogy goes right over Kevin's head.

It's a ridiculous analogy. Electricity is a vital necessity--an essential service. Fire insurance is not. People are forced to buy electricity for their homes. People are not forced to buy fire insurance.

But if you want to draw an analogy, Texas's power company scheme is like an insurance company that multiplies its premiums by 10,000% during fire season. It would have been foolish for someone in CA to not buy fire insurance, but people in Texas didn't have the choice to not buy electricity. The people who were hit with huge bills didn't do anything foolish.

You can continue to cheer for the Texas power companies' scams if you want. But you can't defend them on a moral or legal basis. Only a complete asshole company jacks up the price of something people can't do without by ten thousand percent--and during a crisis at that.

I'm done arguing this with you, as I find your ideological stance morally repugnant.

Whats the difference between CA and TX regarding power outages?   In California they held the Utility provider accountable for their negligence which is why PG&E had to pay over 13 billion dollars.   In unregulated Texas the the negligent power provider is not being held accountable on any level...in fact, Texas leadership wants to bail them out with Federal tax dollars....and those people with the multi-thousand dollar bills?  Well they're just f@cked.

What else can I help with today?

In a conservative utopia like Texas, Big Business can do whatever it damn well pleases, without any repercussions or accountability whatsoever, even if its negligence leads to widespread death and destruction.

In liberal states, Big Business is regulated, which is why Big Business hates liberals.

In Texas, Liberal Little Billy has many power options.  Lil' has the option of fixed electricity rates, fully variable rates (which clearly state that there is no limit to pricing), and many hybrids.

Liberal Little Billy is so used to Mommy protecting him from any inconvenience that he certainly can't be expected to make bright decisions for himself.  I believe Mamma's boy needs to learn how to stand on his own two feet, but the Liberals on this site believe that goverment needs to take over Mommy's role and protect Liberal Little Billy from himself.

"Conservative Chucky"  wants "Liberal LIttle Billy" to pay for his thousand dollar electrict bill he chose from the variable rate plan you described.      Cause just like with every other bailout its only socialism when Democrats do it.
