Why does the NY Times national covid web site provide a case graph, but no death graph?

I dug through their web site yesterday, and after clicking control/F, and seaching for deaths, I found finally found one sentence mentioning that national deaths were trending downward.  No information on how much of a decrease.  No chart on deaths, which would graphically provide people a good idea on what is happening with Corona deaths.  Oh my, the positive test case data is right there in color at the top of the many pages.

Isn't death data the most important statistic?  Doesn't it warrent equal space vs positive test data?  If this isn't agenda driven, then please explain the NY times largely hiding the death data.  If this were a news paper, the case data is front page news, while death data is on page 18 with one small paragraph.

Not presenting data is not the same as "hiding" data. And no, the death data is NOT the most important statistic right now, because we lack the ability to prevent many of those deaths. The important data is transmission and infection, which is something we CAN prevent.

Of course, you can default to your usual Rush Limbaugh setting that the LIBURRUL MEDIA is out to get poor El Presidente Trump and therefore depicts everything in the most negative light possible. Deep State Hillary sent emails MAGAMAGAMAGA sis boom bah.

And just for grins...so what exactly should we do if deaths are trending downward? Go frolic on the beaches? Hold mass gatherings, like Trump hate rallies? Reopen everything and make wearing masks illegal?

According to Boilerman on this site until this week.....the economy was the most important statistic - more so than deaths even.

But now that the economy is being halted due to infection rates and hospital utilization Boilerman has moved his own goalposts.

What happened to Boilerman’s narrative about unemployment being a bigger problem than deaths?   Now that the Republican led response in our country proves our reopening has much bigger economic consequences than Europe Boilerman doesn’t want to talk about the economy anymore.

Boiler never cared about deaths, and he doesn't now. His CONSTANT narrative was to let the coronavirus "burn through" the population and so what about the deaths, the important thing was to get the economy going. Now that the economy isn't magically reviving, he's beating a new drum.

The only thing that has mattered at any point is human lives. But y'know what? Boiler's a true Republican. Shareholder value and the stock market matter much more than the lives and welfare of the people. It's been a conservative mantra for decades that the government's goal should be to promote corporate profits over human welfare.

Our newspaper runs a daily spreadsheet of Covid-19 stats for EVERY state:

 - State (51, DC included),

 - Confirmed cases,

 - New cases curve (including 7 day average new cases)

 - Cases per 100K

 - Deaths,

 - Total tests,

 - % of positives, and

 - Tests per 100K.

The rating (1-51, higher being worse) is based on Cases per 100K

Which state would you like, and which data?

IMO right now the most relevant for anybody is the New cases curve, of "your" state and any other state of interest, such as Nevada or any state you plan to visit.  Watching my state curve trend upward (and move up on the chart from 28th to 24th) has made me more vigilant re masks, distancing, hygiene.

The New cases curves on each state's line are little graphs which show that state's trend since the beginning, AND a number of the 7 day average of new cases for that state.  It does not show the 'curve' of deaths, just the total deaths.

BTW, Nevada's graph line was pretty flat.  Now moving steadily up.  7 day average new cases 398.

New York 665. Texas 5K!

Appears most states' new cases have spiked or started upward  after opening up.  Some worse than others.

Surprise surprise.

I only read your first sentence.  What's the agenda for not reporting death data.

Relative to the pandemic and how it applies to me, death data isn't as informative as new case data.  The number of Covid deaths is an extension of the number of new cases, confounded somewhat by those vulnerability stats, e.g. age, underlying conditions.   But every Covid death starts with a new case.

Not that I am uncaring about the sadness of relatives and friends of those who are taken by Covid-19.

The economy is the most important stat, trumping positive cases and deaths.  That has nothing to do with the Liberal rags hiding data from citizens.

The results are in. The mommy-state countries around the world that shut down early and stayed very shut down have had fewer deaths AND have been able to reopen earlier, helping their economies. The communities that did not shut down adequately like the US have higher death counts and worse economies.

The argument is over. Trump lost. Governor Desantis lost. And you lost. Just drop it.

Here is Nevada death data.  It's way down.

I wish people would explain why the NY Times is hiding US corona death data.  Kevin assure us that hiding is different than not reporting.  Okay, then was is The Times not reporting?
