400 Miles Per Gallon

The Air Vapor Flow System, It vaporizes the fuel before it gets to your carburetor.

Here is a video showing a crude system but it does appear to work

Crude but it works

Here is an article that show the inventor and it is backed up by a reputable newspaper.

I wonder why this never caught on.

I wonder wife this never caught on.

If those things worked, car manufacturers would be using them.

A flammable liquid in its liquid state will not burn. It only will
ignite when it vaporizes into a gaseous state. All flammable liquids
give off vapors that can ignite and burn when an ignition source such as
a lighted cigarette or spark is present.

What you are describing is Flash Point. Then the temperature a little above that is Fire Point. That is where it will continue to sustain combustion without an outside ignition source present.

Ignition temperature is usually considerable higher. That is where a liquid is heated without a flame etc. present, picture a pot of gasoline heated on a stove.

For example the flash Point of gasoline depending on the grade is -45 degrees Fahrenheit.

The ignition temperature also know as auto ignition temperature is 477 - 536 Fahrenheit.

Having said that solids and liquids don't burn, they have to be heated until they give off vapors and then the vapors on the surface burn. That is why as a firefighter we had to use foam on gasoline spills but not on diesel spills. Diesel has a high enough Flash Point as to not be a concern here in Florida.

I wouldn't argue with him Snidely, I think Tut knows what he's talking about

Hmm..pretty interesting video.
This has been around at least since the 1970's.

It doesn't increase your MPG.

I believe that:

Any technology or innovation that could/would reduce gasoline consumption in automobiles tremendously may have, or already been suppressed by the oil/gasoline producers buying the patents, etc.

Any technology or innovation that could/would increase the life span of our motor vehicles, and/or increase mileage may, or already has been suppressed by the automobile manufacturers buying up the patents, etc so they could continue to plan depreciation when manufacturing automobiles.

Neither industry has any interest in reducing their profits and benefit consumers by allowing something to reach the public that could/would reduce that industry's tremendous sales and humongous profits.

Not just those nasty oil companies: The federal government WANT you to keep consuming as much gasoline as you can. Without it, they will have no funding to rebuild roads. Getting more MPG (or going to electric vehicles) will cripple the HTF. It would cause our politicians to find other ways to raise funds to rebuild the roads and bridges.

I'd say all roads will need to become Toll Roads, pay for what you use.

NOTES:
Taxes paid by highway users are credited to the HTF and are used solely to pay for highway and mass transit improvements. Current revenue sources include an 18.3 cent per gallon federal excise tax on gasoline and gasohol, a 24.3 cent per gallon tax on diesel fuel, equivalent taxes on other motor fuels such as compressed natural gas, and three taxes levied on heavy trucks and truck tires.
"Narrator: My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called "Max". To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time. When the world was powered by the black fuel. And the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing. They built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked. But nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. The cities exploded. A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice. And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and smashed. Men like Max. The warrior Max. In the roar of an engine, he lost everything. And became a shell of a man, a burnt out, desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past, a man who wandered out into the wasteland. And it was here, in this blighted place, that he learned to live again. . ."

__Mad Max 2, The Road Warrior
I saw a video a while back where some Japanese guy invented a machine about the size of two food processors ,in one side he put trash which consisted of things like a styrofoam coffee cups, plastic bags all things that were petro based. When he turned it on it turned all of it into a clear white liquid that burned just like gasoline.
