5th Annual Weenie Dog Football Challenge!

Being that this is the week that both Roscoe and Blackjack were born...I figured it would be apropritate to start this thread, in preparation for the upcoming football season!

Happy Birthday weenie dogs!

Ahhhh yesssss...it is that time of the year. Time for football season to start. The opening game is not too far away, and that means its time to bring back the Blackjack vs Roscoe weenie dog football challenge!

Last year was the 4th season for this hot dog challenge and most already know that Roscoe won this contest in a land slide, for the 3rd year in a row! Blackjack really never had a chance! Roscoe ended up taking the grand prize of a package chockfull of delicious gourmet cookie bones!

Up for grabs again this year, at the end of the season is a container chockfull of gourmet cookie bones, to be provided by the losing dogs owner and shipped to the winning dogs home!! Also up for grabs is the weenie dog cup, pictured here. heh heh

All of you lucky LVA friends, dog lovers, football fans and gambling junkies are in for a treat.

Every week Blackjack and Roscoe will post ONE NFL pick, with the games corresponding spread. We will keep track of win/loss totals as each week progresses. The pooch with the highest win total, at the end of the season, will be receiving the gourmet cookie bone basket as his grand prize.

Here is where you LVA folks come in to play….since both puls will be trying their hardest to get them paws on that Cookie bone basket, you can bet your ass that they are going to provide nothing but the best, and most sold winning picks every week.

If you live in Vegas, or find yourself on vacation in Vegas, make sure you check on the Weenie Dog picks and see what they have cooking that weekend!

You can take any one of their picks, or both of them, and go to the sports book to bet them yourself, so you can clean up some BIG BUCKS too!

This thread will be used exclusively for Roscoe and Blackjack’s picks ONLY.

Feel free to comment on what your opinion is, on either of their picks, and by all means root for the pup that’s in the lead at any given time. They love receiving props for being good little weenies!

Spreads will be taken using the line at the Las Vegas Hilton, and taken from this web site. VEGAS Odds

To allow for all our friends to take advantage of our information, and avoid confusing money line changes, the official weekly challenge picks must be submitted by Blackjack and Roscoe by 4PM PST on that NFL weekends Friday.

Of course if one of their picks happen to be on a Thursday night game, that pick must be in at least an hour before kick off time.

Lets all make some MAJOR DOLLARS, from their picks THIS YEAR!! Roscoe went 12 wins, 5 losses and 3 ties last year, while Blackjack was 9 wins, 10 and one tie.

Both pooches had solid seasons, and there was money to be made.

Good luck and good betting this year! $$$$

Let's get the 5th annual Weenie Dog Challenge under way. I was the first pup out of the litter five years ago and Roscoe has been chasing me ever since.

I might as well be the first to post my pick for 2012.

Last year I jumped out of the gate last year with a 9-4-1 record (.692) against the spread. Then let's just say that I became distracted the next-door neighbor's Bichon Frise.

This year I will not only get out of the gate fast, I will maintain my concentration. No chasing my tail in 2012.

I have an air-tight guaranteed lock of the week, taking the New England Patriots (minus-5 points) at the Tennesee Titans. I am never crazy about giving up many points with a road team, but this is an exception.

We have a matchup of quarterbacks between Tom Brady and Jake Locker. Brady has the highest winning percentage in NFL history (.780), thanks to a record of 124-35. Jake Locker, meanwhile, makes his starting debut.

Love 'em or hate 'em, the Patriots look like the class of the AFC this year.

Good luck to everyone making wagers this week. And good luck with to brother Roscoe,

OK its time for me to make my weenie pick of the week!

Week 1 is always tough, but I think I found a sure fire winner.

This week, I am going with the Detroit Lions minus 7 points over the shitty St Louis Rams!

The rams are awful this year, and the Lions have lots of promise. Megatron and Stafford are going to hook up over, and over again for touchdowns this week, and this game will be decided by double digits.

Easy money this week folks...make sure you jump on this one.

Good luck to Blackjack , and all others who are making the weenie bets this week, and may the power of the pups be with you.

Is -7 correct? I had someone place a bet for me on this exact game last weekend and I have to lay 8.5 points. Since I lost on the Giants, I hope I get my money back in this game.

Yeah...check Vegas.com/odds

A few casinos have it at 7.0 some have it at 7.5 but I don't see anyone that's got it at more then that.

The bet was made on Labor Day weekend and brought back to me. With the line going down it means that more action has been going on the Rams, which is hard to believe. I've heard of betting syndicates moving a line one way during the week and then betting much much more on the other team just before kick-off.
My tail is wagging.
Time for a weenie dog update after NFL week #1!

Blackjack got off to a tail wagging good time, after his pick wins big! Patriots kicked some major booty, and covered the 5 point spread!

Roscoe's pick on the other hand, wasn't so good. Even though the Lions won the game, they did NOT cover the spread, giving Roscoe his first loss of the season!

Standings after Week #1:

1st place Blackjack at 1-0

2nd place Roscoe at 0-1

Good luck with next weekends picks!
