9 year old girl kills instructor showing her how to use an Uzi

I have a feeling the instructor had his guard down for that split second when she pulled the trigger and paid the price. Sad. I agree, a 9 yr old girl has no business with an uzi in her hand.

Kids are taught to shoot all the time, although I'm sure it's much less now than in times past. Heck, I learned to shoot guns at a really early age, the again, kids in W Va are taught to do so may more more than other kids younger.I can remember shooting skeet when I was 12 or so, other guns younger. I never developed the desire to hunt tho, just wasn't my bag.

I had a BB gun when I was young. I shot a 22 at a firing range where my uncle always went.

I'm not anti-guns but I'm not into them either.

And this is directed to me because...? or should I have started with "Some kids are taught..."?

No one in their right mind has any business giving an automatic rifle to a child to touch, much less fire. This has to be one of the most glaring examples of lunacy I have ever heard about. I feel for the instructor's family more so than the child and her family. They are still alive, while he is dead. There really is no way to make any sense of this tragedy.

Ease up. This was not specifically directed to you. I was just saying that in earlier days most kids shot BB guns and not Uzis. It was not a shot at you.

We have common-sense laws that keep 9-year-old kids from driving cars and consuming alcohol. But little kids with Uzis at a shooting range?...No problem!

The paranoid gun fetishists who keep us from having common-sense gun safety laws can add one more to the their body count.

Only curious, not offended. Jes' askin'

The range at which DonDiego practices does not allow youngsters under 12 to fire any automatic weapons. This seems like a good policy, . . . maybe even a mass or size limit would be advisable, . . . like an Elmer Fudd character on a sign with a yardstick and the warning: "You cannot shoot the UZI if you are less than THIS tall".

DonDiego did rent a 9mm fully-automatic for his 30-ish daughter to fire the last time she was here. She really got a thrill out of it. It was just too expensive, the better part of $100 for a full magazine, for DonDiego to duplicate the exercise. No one was injured.
When I first heard about this story, I only heard the tail end of it about the instructor being airlifted to a hospital in Las Vegas.

As you drive into Vegas, there are billboards advertising a place where you can shoot a machine gun. I was wondering if this incident had taken place at this Las Vegas place. Of course it took place in Arizona.

Even if it was near the border of Nevada and Arizona, that seems like a good ways to air transport someone, when seconds are critical to survival.
9 year old kids drive cars, trucks and other heavy machinery on farms across the United States each day. Possibly I shouldn't have brought this to the attention of those on the Left, as we all know that Liberals are far smarter than any Indiana farmer. Those Liberals might soon look for more regulation and to interject themselves even further into the lives of our farmers.
