Anyone Ever Get Out Of a Cell Phone Ticket?

It also does not hurt to be polite to the officer that pulled you over. Ask Judge Judy, just saw one the other day about a smart ass that was pulled over. He refused to sign the ticket because the officer wrote the wrong color of his car on the ticket. JJ had a field day with this guy.

God Bless the Men in Blue, along with all the Firefighters

Incorrect on truckers I believe. From the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration-"A new FMCSA rule restricts the use of all hand-held mobile devices by drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). This rulemaking restricts a CMV driver from holding a mobile device to make a call, or dialing by pressing more than a single button. CMV drivers who use a mobile phone while driving can only use a hands-free phone located in close proximity."

Bagiant, good luck. These kinds of cops are called ticket whores.

I'm from a law enforcement family. I got a ticket once for not coming to a complete stop at a blinking red light.

Motorcycle cop had me stopped ticketed and was gone in a blast.

I fought the ticket, postponed a couple of hearings, and finally he did show up and he was fucking pissed off at the fact I would challenge his ticket. What a POS. I still lost.

The judge reduced the fine in half which was cool. I got to cross examine him and he was fucking livid.

I spent 20 mins. trying to break him but couldn't. This happened in the friendly city of El Cajon.

If I had to do it all over again, I would hire an attorney. I wouldn't think twice.

Ticket whores huh? Yep, how dare a cop give you a ticket for breaking the law!!

I prefer a "nicer term", Revenue Collection Officers or RCO's.

Why is it when one gets caught breaking the law they look for a way to weasel out of punishment? Apparently they think that laws do not apply to them but only apply to others. Quit your scumbag scheming ways, suck it up and be a man and pay your fine, after all, you knew the law and chose to break it.

Whoa! I thought you were one of those "less government" folks????????

Does your husband make your tickets "disappear"?
I'm always polite to the officer. But this law was put in affect because of people being distracted by taking their phone calls. When you're STOPPED you are NOT being distracted by any means. This is only a way to take in revenue for the state or local municipality. I just don't agree with the statute the way it is written....which I'll find out when I go to the law library. It never hurts to plead not guilty anyway as the officr may not show up for court. I've seen that happen many times.

If I answer no you won't believe me.
If I answer yes you will call me a hypocrite.
So you pick an answer that suits you.

The next time you are at a traffic light imagine everyone with their heads looking at their phones(yes you do that when making and receiving the call).
I'm sure you still don't get it and will never see that you broke the law.

I agree with you Bagiant. I see no harm in using your phone while sitting at a light. If I were you I would cancel my donation this year. Make sure you let them know why too. Around here, it is not uncommon to see police driving around with their eyes glued to a dash mounted laptop. I don't see how that isn't considered dangerous.
