That is the problem with counting cards everyone thinks you win every time. But you only get a few percent in your favor a small percent of the time. And even if you have the odds in your favor does not mean you win. With almost all the cards tens you would have a lot of 20-20 ties if you did not get 20 and had to hit it is almost a sure bust not sure you would have got your money back. It is like people will tell you that a dealer will bust 90% of the time with a 6 showing. No it is only 45%.

It feels like only 25% when the dealer has 16 against me. 75% of the time they seem to pull a 4 or 5. I'm sure it's not really that bad but it sure feels that way.

I know exactly what you mean. It seems like I've always doubled down or split to boot and that f'n 5 will appear. ALWAYS

It seems like 9 out of 10 times when I double with an 11 I draw an ace.

It's even worse when you double against a 5 and the dealer turns over the 10 for 15, then draws an Ace then draws the 5. That's when I go play the slots.

Oh yea, how could I forget that one, an oldie but a goodie there.

Like Snidely said, that's when you admit defeat and head for some other game. It really, really blows when evry game you head to ends up the same. Play LIR, get dealt pair of aces..let 'em ride, dealer hits three dueces. Play pass and rollers crap out five times in a row, slot machine...suck,suck, suckSUCK fifty bucks in five minutes.

White flag, I'm going to bed.

I hope that's true. We need more political conservatives like Affleck who:
Endorsed Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign

Worked with Martin Sheen, Rob Reiner, and Helen Hunt telephoning Democrats, encouraging them to vote

Campaigned with Hillary Clinton as she ran for the U.S. Senate

Campaigned with John Kerry as he ran for President in 2004

    Supports marriage equality

Spoke of his disagreements with President GW Bush's policies

    Decries income inequality

If that's what "political conservatives" do these days, our country's in even better shape than I thought!

Really, is anyone so petty as to evaluate someone's blackjack skills based on their politics?

After all, you don't need to be a Nazi to appreciate Wagner. Although I suspect Boilerman would need Wikipedia to know what Wagner did for a living, so maybe another example would have been better.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due, and forkush is 100% correct here.

Honus Wagner (aka “The Flying Dutchman”) played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1900 to 1917, and is considered by many baseball historians to be the greatest player during the so-called “dead ball” era, and perhaps the greatest shortstop ever. In addition to his defensive skills, he won the National League batting title eight times, and led the league in slugging percentage six times and stolen bases five times. In short (pun intended), he was a consummate all-around player.

I appreciate Wagner, and I ain’t no stinkin’ Nazi.

Isn't Honus one of the most valuable ball cards out there today as well?

As usual, jatki is right on the money. One of them sold for $2.8 million in 2007. At that price, most folks couldn't afford to buy one.

Ben Affleck could, officially speaking.
