(CNN) -- Investigators believe they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a source who has been briefed on the investigation told CNN's John King exclusively.

The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development.

Earlier, a federal law enforcement source with firsthand knowledge of the investigation told CNN that a lid to a pressure cooker thought to have been used in the bombings had been found on a roof of a building near the scene.

Making fun of a tragedy. My oh my, you really do show exactly who you are with a post like that.
Authorities have a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings in custody and are taking him to federal court, according to the Associated Press. A spokeswoman for the the US attorney's office in Boston would not comment to Yahoo News on the reports of the arrest. CBS and NBC News are both reporting that no arrest has been made.

The FBI is holding a press conference at 5 p.m. and is expected to announce the news then. CNN reported that the breakthrough in the investigation came from analyzing department store surveillance video and video from a news station.

The Boston Globe reported that officials have found an image of "a suspect carrying, and perhaps dropping, a black bag at the second bombing scene."

An FBI spokesman in Boston and a spokeswoman for Boston Mayor Tom Menino declined to comment on the reports to Yahoo News.

While media reports say one suspect is in custody, a former Boston-area federal agent told Yahoo News that he suspects other arrests will follow.
“It seems unlikely that he would have acted alone,” said the federal agent, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly.

Police have said the two bombs were fashioned from debris-filled pressure cookers and stuffed in black bags. They were located about 100 yards apart.

“To carry one heavy bag in is one thing, but a single suspect having two bags would have stood out,” the law enforcement source told Yahoo News.

If you want to get the most reliable information about the bombing on a minute to minute basis I suggest...

... going to a Las Vegas message board.
Now there may not have been an arrest.

Authorities have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, and conflicting reports emerged Wednesday afternoon over whether the suspect was in custody.

The Associated Press and the Boston Globe reported the suspect had been arrested and was en route to the Moakley Federal Courthouse in South Boston. But the Boston Police Department denied those reports on Wednesday afternoon, saying no arrest had been made. CNN also reported no suspect was in custody, backtracking from its earlier report that a suspect had been nabbed.

A spokeswoman for the the US attorney's office in Boston declined to comment to Yahoo News on the reports of the arrest.

Authorities combed through video footage to find an image of "a suspect carrying, and perhaps dropping, a black bag at the second bombing scene" The Boston Globe reported.

Point well taken, I wasn't making fun of the New York Post or its readers at all.

I was totally making fun of the 9 other people killed in Boston that the lamestream media's covering up.
"Contrary to widespread reporting, there have been no arrests made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack," the FBI said.
The FBI and officials are admantly denying they have a person in custody, yet the AP is still sticking to their story and their undisclosed source is claiming they have somneone.

Now there is this story. Is there a bomb threat or do they want the court house clear because they have apprehended someone?

Security officers order staff, media to clear Boston courthouse
BOSTON (Reuters) - Security officials on Wednesday ordered staff, media and attorneys to evacuate Boston's federal courthouse, according to a Reuters reporter on the scene.

Scores of people could be seen leaving the building. No further details were immediately available.

"Get away from the building. I can't stress this enough, people," a uniformed law enforcement official yelled at the crowd.

The FBI also officially confirmed in a statement that no arrests had been made.

The denials came after sources previously told CNN that a suspect was in custody.

One federal law enforcement source told CNN that "anyone who says 'arrest' is ahead of themselves."

A Boston law enforcement told CNN, "We got him," but won't clarify whether that means a suspect has been identified or arrested.

Some federal sources said it was even too early to say investigators had identified the suspect, but several sources in Boston told CNN that they have a clear identification.
