Breaking news - two bombs go off at Boston Marathon finish. At least two dead

Of course some places frequently get it more wrong than others.

Is that a "real" newspaper? I thought that was one of those rags like "The Enquirer" or "The Star"

Ugh, now watch as the do-gooders try to grab our bombs.

Maybe it's time we consider outlawing pressure cookers, ball bearings and nails.

You make an excellent point. If it wasn't for the tremendous utility that pressure cookers, ball bearings, and nails provide to society, and the incredible rarity of their use in killing people, I'd be on board with a ban, definitely.

Let's talk in a year and see how many Americans were killed by bombs made from pressure cookers, ball bearings and nails.

I mean, we're already in late April and we've already got three dead from such bombs. That compares to a paltry 3,474 dead from guns in the four months since Newtown. Why, the carnage from these bombs is nearly 1/1000th what guns have caused! When will it end?

Good thinking, alanleroyII!

Yep, it's a real newspaper, but it is "tabloid" in the sense that the paper format is more vertical than conventional newspapers. I once heard that those types are easier to read on a crowded subway, but I don't really know.

They are owned by NewsCorp (Fox) and so it has a strong rightward slant. I predicted they were wrong on the Boston story because they get a lot of stuff wrong. Occasionally they have been caught in a circle jerk with Fox "News" where the paper reports something, Fox reports that the NY Post reported the same thing, and then the NY Post reports on the Fox story. Synergy!

But you have to give them credit for some of the best headlines ever:

On bin Laden's porn stash: Osama bin Wankin'
On AIG bonuses: Not So Fast You Greedy Bastards
On Anthony Weiner: Weiner's Rise and Fall - Weiner's Second Coming - Obama Beats Weiner
On A-Rod: A-Hole
On some bogeys by Tiger Woods: Tiger Puts Balls in Wrong Place Again
After Hurricane Sandy and other bad weather: God Hates Us

and one of the most famous headlines from years ago:

Headless Body in Topless Bar

Thank you. It's good to see you still don't get sarcasm. There's some clinical studies of that if you're interested. Of course we all know Pressure Cookers don't kill people...people kill people...Except of course for the occasional pressure cooker accident. When pressure cookers are outlawed...only outlaws will have pressure cookers!

Except that you either deliberately or unwittingly repeated a central theme of the pro-gun crowd, which is that maybe the other side ought to try to outlaw knives and cars and other things that kill people.

In your case, I'm betting on unwittingly.

Except that suggesting Pressure Cookers be banned was a response to "Ugh, now watch as the do-gooders try to grab our bombs." Please learn to read sarcasm in context....or pehaps you have this problem too.

Failure to spot sarcasm may be linked to dementia.
From CNN:

Boston Marathon investigation: FBI may have suspect in bombings; arrest imminent

Authorities believe they have identified a suspect from video footage in the Boston Marathon bombings, Reuters reported Wednesday. An arrest is imminent, according to the AP, while the Boston Globe reported the arrest had already been made. A spokeswoman for the the US attorney's office in Boston would not comment to Yahoo News on the reports of the arrest.

The FBI is holding a press conference at 5 p.m. and is expected to announce the news then. CNN reported that the breakthrough in the investigation came from analyzing department store surveillance video and video from a news station.

The Boston Globe reported that officials have found an image of "a suspect carrying, and perhaps dropping, a black bag at the second bombing scene."

An FBI spokesman in Boston and a spokeswoman for Boston Mayor Tom Menino declined to comment on the reports to Yahoo News.
