I miss the duplicity already.
CET's "No Resort Fee" policy was primarily marketing and misdirection. They were getting the money anyway. Guests who believe they are saving money because of a brilliant ad campaign and ubiquitous logo will be less likely to notice, for example, the charge for calling the front desk ... or the daily $12.75 internet fee.
This is all moot anyway, if your room charges are comped. When dilettantes and newbies pay more than they have to, that's not tragic. That's Vegas.
