The D now charging a resort fee.

I had thought of staying at The D until I heard this. $20 and plus resort fees are just too much. I have no problem with smaller resort fees like $6 at the Orleans or $3 at the Gold Coast.
We booked a comped room at the Golden Gate a couple of weeks ago. I certainly hope they aren't going to charge us a resort fee since we booked before they implemented this.

I don't think the resort fee will be added if you have a comped room.

just more bullshit to raise the price $20 on a room! Like others above mentioned, wifi readily available in many places for free, room phone! Really, wonder when the last time those were needed.

If you want to raise your prices, just raise the damn thing! Everybody has adopted these cute little charges that they think folks won't think so much about or argue against.
We were at the D a few weeks ago. Wife hit for $150 on her second hand of VP and the thumpy club music drove us away after that. Not sure who they are targeting there. It's a very nice place downstairs. The renovation looks great. Upstairs is the same vintage Fitz.

I agree, $3 or $6 is okay, but not $20. The Golden Gate doesn't even have a pool.
Considering that the "D" has now joined the 85% of casinos that charge this asinine fee, they will get none of my business, as do the other 85%. The "D" and the other 85% can go gouge someone else.
Perhaps they find it beneficial to hide a price increase in a supplemental fee because said fee will not impact the initial price as it appears in an Orbitz or Travelocity (or similar) search. Folks who use these sites (and I haven't since 2000) are dazzled by the initial results, and are somehow able to justify fees tacked on at the end of the transaction. I am, of course, speaking of civilians, and not uber-savvy Vegas mavens like us.

I would also like to take this opportunity to agree with rdwoodpecker on one point (and there's a kumbaya moment for you). If your room is comped, resort fees can be waived.

If your room is comped but the fee is not, and you're ONLY paying the resort fee to stay in the room and you're still complaining... perhaps your expectations are unrealistic. (And I say "perhaps" because everyone is different and this is only my opinion.) And finally, if your room ISN'T comped... you just might be doing something fundamentally wrong.

(And that's the editorial "you." I don't mean you. Or you. And especially not you.)
OK! I must be behind the times. I've never heard of the Sundance Casino either. What was it originally?
Sundance Hotel opened in 1980 - Sold to Fitz Gaming in 1987 and renamed as Fitzgeralds Las Vegas - renovation and re-branded to the D Las Vegas in Fall 2012
