Dear Harrah's, Ceasars', or what ever you want to be called this week.

They don't suck at all. The new RF's do. But CET props are great.

Oh please - let's run down the list here:

Caesars Palace - a nice place to say, generally overpriced
Planet Hollywood - Another nice property, also generally overpriced.
Rio - About 10 years past due for an upgrade, long neglected, has been rumored to be next up for sale.
Paris - Also showing it's age, was a helluva lot nicer when it was owned by Bally's (have you seen the Balloon?)
Bally's - Another place long overdue for a room upgrade, and also long overdue for some basic maintenance (the fountains up front look pathetic)
Flamingo - Vegas Tripping recently stayed here and found a damned cockroach in the room
The Quad - Still basically the Imperial Palace with a fresh sign out front

There are too many examples to count of neglected maintenance. Broken escalators, desperately needed paint jobs, etc.

At least MGM has more then 2 decent properties. I would put Aria, Vdara, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, and Mirage over anything CET has.

And now they want to entice you to their properties by charging a Resort Fee?
They have plenty of nice rooms, suites, pools, etc.
I think you are just too cheap to get a decent room.
Will the resort fees apply to comped rooms? I don't believe I've ever paid for a room in the Harrahs/Ceasars chain so if they don't apply to comped rooms, its not a problem.

Still can't believe CET did this because it's customer's demanded this !!
Who in their right mind would want crappy table games 6/5 Blackjack,
and want to pay more for a room !! Especially when they advertised so
hardidly " No Resort Fee's" at any of our properties , I trulely believe that
their new Slogan will now be; " Were not happy until You're not Happy "

I would venture to say if it's comped then no resort fee would be added.
We have stayed on comps at Wynn and they waived it. Same with MGM.

so your issue with these 2 is not that they suck, but that they are overpriced? I usually tay at Caesars, but am staying at Planet Hollywood next trip. I am quite pleased with the price I pay for my rooms. It's $0

I have never ever ever ever ever gotten a comp offer from an MGM property.

CET hasn't said they'll charge more for rooms. I think you probably made that up.

In all likelihood, CET is moving to resort fees to allow it to reduce its advertised rates to a more competitive level. I think CET is sick of getting beat by MGM, which for years now has had lower rates than CET on comparable properties, but made up for it through mandatory resort fees.

The State of Nevada should ban mandatory resort fees beyond the room rate, but I doubt they will, the governor and the legislature are too dependent on industry campaign contributions to do something smart for hotel guests, very few of whom vote in Nevada.

Do the casinos pay state tax on the profits from our gambling losses? Although we don't vote in Nevada, collectively we contribute on many levels. I imagine the economic impact from tourism and gambling is huge especially when you figure the impact on secondary jobs and beyond.
If I'm going to pay with my own money, I damned sure better be getting the best value for it. Since I don't play enough to earn comps, I pay the going rate.

On this trip I'm staying at Monte Carlo in a Strip View room for around $90 a night (resort fee included) and finishing at The D for $50 a night (no resort fee charged.)

Bally's, Paris, and Flamingo all wanted more for these same nights - and now I find out that had I booked with them I'd be paying a Resort Fee.

I guarantee you Monte Carlo has better rooms then Bally's, Paris, or Flamingo. Planet Hollywood is the only CET property I'd consider staying at that is within my price range, and on average they want about $20-$30 more per night then Monte Carlo or MGM Grand. I'm sorry, but Planet Hollywood wants to pretend their rooms are every bit as good as Mirage or Mandalay Bay, and they're not. Caesars wants to pretend they're every bit as good as Bellagio or Aria, and they're not.

I'm not out to change anyone's mind - only to point out (as others have) that CET is being really, really stupid by doing this. Their properties (other then Caesars) are nothing special, and now they're even less competitive then they were before.
