Do the casinos pay state tax on the profits from our gambling losses?
Yes.

Each month, Nevada's casinos pay up to 6.75% on gross gaming revenue ...a percentage that is the lowest in the U.S.. Casinos with more than 15 slot machines also pay an annual tax of $250 on each one.

The gaming industry contributes more tax revenue to the state than any other. $1.26 billion in 2010, about 46% of the state's general fund that year.

Bally's, Paris, and Flamingo all wanted more for these same nights - and now I find out that had I booked with them I'd be paying a Resort Fee.
Not true. CET says it will not apply a resort fee to existing reservations.

Had you booked with them, you would not pay a resort fee.

He is cheap. No other way to look at it. He will never stay at a nice property.
A "strip view" at MC? GMAFB!! You will see nothing but shadows from CC.
If he would gamble a bit more perhaps the comped rooms would come his way. But he is like so many others wanting everything gamblers (real gamblers) are receiving without earning the comps.
Can't see being cheap in Vegas where you get more for your money than any other destination.

Where do you get off pretending to know what I want or who I am. Just because I'm not a fool with my money doesn't make me cheap. I'm sure if I wasted every penny I earn at the tables, maybe I'd get comped, but is it really all that great a deal when you've lost so much money to get it?

If you're comfortable handing over thousands of dollars on every trip for your "free" room, goody for you. But that doesn't make you better then me or anyone else.

And for the record, I've stayed at Bellagio, Venetian, MGM Grand, Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock, and THE Hotel. I'm sure those places meet even your shallow definition of "nice."

Being cheap in Vegas never seem to work out. Many examples all over this board.
Getting defensive about it is a good sign.

You sound like a flack for Ceasers or MGM.
The reality is you can have more fun staying is smaller, easier to navigate places like Terrible's or downtown than paying 5 times more for some overpriced, oversized megaresort which usually has lousier games by far.
It is pretty pretentious to judge what others want from their vacation. I remember the first ever meet we had a long time ago and one of the guys there(can't remember his name) said he didn't gamble at all, just went adainst his grain. I was not only taken aback but astonished, why would anyone want to come and vacation here on a regular basis? His answer was a very simple and legitimate one, it was a cheap destination where he could stay and eat for almost nothing, he enjoyed some shows and just the overall cool stuff to always have available to see and do. Made perfect sense to me after he explained it that way, it's what he wanted from a vaca and who was I or anyone else to say differently?

Hey Treegirl, were the American patriots "cheap" for not wanting to pay the British taxes that they tried to put on them? Just curious.

not sure how you can equate a tax that was mandatory and nonpayment was punishable by prison or forfeiture of property to a resort fee that can be avoided by simply not going to the establishment that charges it. or by being Platinum
