Does anyone else hate Windows 8 as much as me?

With Windows 8 does anyone else have a problem with the left arrow when you want to go back to the previous page?
Sometimes it will go back and sometimes it will open a drop down box and I have to pick the page I want to go back to. Once and a while it will give me multiple lines with the same page and I have to close out Explorer and open it up again.
I can't seem to find anyway for it to doit the same way all the time.
I use Mozilla Firefox. I also have the 8 loaded on my desktop. Just changing the subject for a minute. Does anyone having Firefox have ads continuously coming up in a new window? Ads for increasing PC speed. Dating sites to meet Russian and Japanese women. Ever since I downloaded Firefox, I'm getting these ads all the time. I seriously doubt that this is some kind of attachment that comes with the Firefox download but who knows? I've gone through my Control Panel and deleted everything I thought that might be bringing up the ads except on site. And that site just doesn't want to be deleted.

I use the Ad-Block add-on for Firefox to block those ads.

If I wanted to use a tablet I would break out my tablet and use it. I love how fast Windows 8 starts and in all fairness it does have its' bright spots but the whole user interface sucks, especially for those of us that are mouse users...
I was put off at first, got used to it, and I now I can find my way around files much faster than with Windows 7. But then again, I didn't hate Vista like the rest of the universe seemed to.

And what's a mouse?

Ad Block isn't going to solve that although it might mask your symptoms. You have some sort of Trojan on your computer and that is what is serving those ads. You also likely have keylogger installed on your system that is gathering your passwords and logins. Best solution: Do a factory reset of the machine.

Tutontow,

You're in luck. Apparently enough people complained about the loss of the Start button that Microsoft brought it back in Windows 8.1. And you can have it for the low, low price of $119!

You can check it out here:

Windows 8.1 Available Now
I see where Microsoft is going to stop supporting Windows XP next April.

I have had no problems with Windows 7.

I finally booted Internet Explorer to the curb. Too many error messages.
Roulette Man,

I use Firefox and Chrome at the library. I like that they both have spell check built in.

Also with Firefox, you can add the "Web of Trust" or WOT and it will tell you when you search for something whether a website is trustworthy or dangerous.
I bought a "new" laptop from the Dell Outlet store, and got it still with Win7 Professional.

Good job I think you will be happy with that purchase. Even with the fixes Windows 8 makes no sense unless you have a touch screen.
