Donald Trump to buy Buffalo Bills?

Good lord, say it ain't so. I'm already a fair weather fan as it is.... but this would be a step too far. I might actually root for the Patriots when they play Buffalo.

I heard Wilson wanted the team sold after his death. That is probably to avoid any Georgia Frontiere problems. Their lease goes to 2019 I believe. I wonder if they will stay there, thereafter?
There's no reason for the Bills to move. NFL Football Stadiums are TV studios. They can exist anywhere.

The league could relocate every team to Burkina Faso and barely see an impact on its bottom line.

Oh there can be very good reason to move. There is no revenue sharing with luxury suites at stadiums. Currently Los Angeles, the second largest media market hasn't had an NFL team for 20 years now. While there is revenue sharing of television money, if you don't think the L.A. market isn't more lucrative than let's say a Jacksonville or a Buffalo, then you would be wrong.

Fortunately, I don't think that.

I think that, for NFL football, Los Angeles is very slightly more lucrative than Jacksonville or Buffalo. Very slightly. After all, the league hasn't appeared troubled in the least that they haven't had a team there for 19 years.

For the NFL, ticket sales are the icing on a gigantic TV contract and merchandising cake.

The NFL doesn't like empty seats to show on television therefore they give tickets out at the last moment.

Jacksonville doesn't have a big enough population to support the team. There are far many more revenue streams from a team than just sharing in television revenue. You are very mistaken to think they are no different from each other.

The NFL doesn't need its teams in big cities. Their stadiums are just TV studios. They could play the games anywhere.

2013: Empty seats in Jacksonville. Team doesn't move to Los Angeles.

. . .

The Jaguars’ lease with the city expires in 2030 and it would cost about $100 million to break the lease. For the NFL and Shad Khan, $100 million is almost nothing. He has $4B, and didn't get it by being dumb.

Yet he and the league keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville (and the Bills in Buffalo and the Chargers in San Diego and the Packers in Green Bay and the Bucs in Tampa and the Raiders, well, hmmm).

NFL stadiums are TV studios and could be put anywhere.
Sounds like a April fools joke on Trump
