Early Fall in New England (new pics added)

Foxwoods is HUGE! Bring good comfy shoes. The casinos are smoking and non smoking, tables can be either...just ask, most pit bosses will accommodate your request. The Buffet is good, but not great. There are some good restaurants, bars, etc. If you prefer to valet park, it's easier to just drive up to one of the hotel entrances. I prefer the Great Cedar hotel valet, it's pretty centralized within the complex and hardly ever busy. Walking from the MGM Grand at Foxwoods casino to the Rainmaker casino is about a MILE I'm not kidding...however, they have bus service at all the hotels if you don't want to walk everywhere. And yes, they have multiple casinos and high end bingo here too. Have fun!!

Great pics. I'm heading to Boston next week from Oct 9 to 19th.
Visit my family in Lowell, MA, Portsmouth, NH, Brockton, MA & drive to my sister's place in Kennebunk, ME.
I grew up there for 26 years, but live in Los Angeles now.
Fall is my favorite season anywhere, but especially New England.
I planned these dates to try to hit the foliage peaks.

My brother will take me to Foxwoods, so I'll finally get to check out that casino.
Any suggestions for Foxwoods?
Jack

Thanks for the info, Navymom. I'll be prepared for a mega casino & long walks. My brother is a King (?) card level, so the room & meals will be comped. It might be a 1 night, or maybe 2 nigh.t I'll leave it up to my brother,(and hope he doesn't remember any mean things I did when we were kids. Foxwoods looks big from their website.

Ksucidlo, I mentioned Oxford to my sister & we may take a drive up for an afternoon. About 60 miles from Kennebunk and we get to see the leaves & trees. Not a big gambling destination, but a royal's a royal anywhere. Plus it might be a nice drive.

Either visit is just a diversion, as the main reason is the scenery & seeing family.
thanks,
Jack

I would imagine the only people who don't like fall are people who have to rake bushels and bushels of leaves and don't have any type of equipment other than a rake.

I'm fortunate, as I have tons of woods (State Forest) behind my house,
but I do feel sorry for those that have to rake and bag their leaves.
For those people, it's a lot of work.
I've seen like 20 of those huge tall paper leaf bags sold in the stores,
filled with leaves and set out by the curb in front of houses for pickup,
........ only to have the neighbor's leaves blow back on their lawn the next day.

This is a great pix is it in the Berkshires?
I had a trip up Interstate 91 last week and found upper N.E. was very sparse already and kind of past peek. VT and NH (White River Jct. VT)

It seems to be a short window for colorful leaves this year, but your pix reminds me of Shelburne Falls, MA.

Nice ride from Lowell
if you are going near 391 near Worcester try to stop at the Mohegan Sun also.
Try Juniors at the MGM at Foxwoods and of course try their FAMOUS cheesecake.
Gambling wise not as good as Vegas (Visit the poker room for a look at it )

For all the new England readers LET's hope you won't need a shovel for the end of October!!!
Like last year's freak blizzard and power outages. Northern CT and Southwest MA,!!!!
