Echelon is No More

"Genting Bhd. (GENT), Southeast Asia’s largest casino operator, will buy and complete Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD)’s unfinished Echelon resort in Las Vegas.
Boyd said today it will receive about $157 million from the sale after paying a portion of the $350 million in proceeds to fulfil the company’s obligations to LVE Energy Partners LLC, the company said."

A sign of the times. The site of the Stardust is to be owned by a Malaysian conglomerate.

hooray!
I know change is inevitable, but I miss the Stardust.
Anything is better than just a vacant land.

It's too bad they didn't leave the Stardust alone until all plans were finalized.
Yea! The North Strip strikes back ! It will be nice to have that neighborhood back in play. I'm not too sad to see the Echelon go away - not sure how I felt about an Alpine Village in hot, dry Southern NV.

I would guess filling in the casino property increases the chances of the nearby, abandoned condo projects being bought out and finished too.

I don't know. I like my memories of vacant lots right on the strip. I remember the helicopter tours taking off right there 50 feet from the strip kicking up huge clouds of dust. It wasn't that long ago.

Exactly!

In 2008, no investors believed that building on the Strip would be a profitable venture. Now in 2013, some do. Very good news.

What is the location of this stalled project? North of Riviera or South of Circus Circus?
Either way that is encouraging news for North Strip.
