Echelon is No More

Thx pj
Wonder if there's anyone eyeballing the F-blue as well? They were ,what, 750 mil shy of finishing when citi pulled the financing plug? Icahn picked it up for a coupla hundred mil? Seems like someone could buy that and finish it for a (very relative) bargain.
I can't ever help but shake my head whenever I pass that building, such a monstrosity that was at the finish line and couldn't cross it, what a shame. I always thought it was a good looking building, Much more plaeasing to the eye than that ugly-ass thing (city center) down the road.

I don't know. I like my memories of vacant lots right on the strip. I remember the helicopter tours taking off right there 50 feet from the strip kicking up huge clouds of dust. It wasn't that long ago.

Maybe if you wish hard enough, the Frontier, Stardust and WestWard Ho,
will arise from the ashes !

Are you sure you are thinking of Echelon? I don't recall it having any particular theme, and a quick review of the plans at Vegastodayandtomorrow.com doesn't seem to show any. Perhaps you were thinking of Montreux, the plan for the New Frontier prior to it being planned to be the new Plaza prior to its plan to be a hot dry flat space of sand where Steve Wynn planted a few palm tree's so his guests wouldn't have to look at it.

As for F-Blue, I doubt there will be any progress for a few years at least. I remember reading a while back the cost was still substantial to complete it and Wikipedia says "As of November 2009, the cost to complete the resort is an estimated US$1 to 1.5 billion". Transfer that to 2013 dollars, add a bit for 5 years of deterioration, add a bit more to cover possible overruns and its still a pretty good chunk of change. It looks like the same type of market that the Cosmopolitan is going for and since they've been struggling I can't see it in the short term. If the economy recovers, SLS, (the Sahara), and the new Echelon open then it starts to look a little more promising.

This is really good news. Even though I miss the Stardust greatly, I'm glad to see that its successor is finally going to get going again. Now if something could happen with Fountain Bleu.
nice to see something going there, hopefully they can get something happening on the frontier.

Plans for Resorts World Las Vegas

Looks pretty cool, like the night pic. A 2013 version of IP on super duper blown up hyperbolic steroids.
