Hotel Queston For Vegas Vets

We'll be arriving in Vegas December 8th and staying for two weeks...I already have a comped room at the Trop for five days....After that we're thinking of staying off strip, either at the Orleans or the Eastside Cannery.

Would appreciate comments on either of these hotels from folks who have stayed there in the last six months or so....I visited the Orleans (just a quick visit) only once back in the 1990's and have never been to the Eastside Cannery...Any comments or tips would be helpful.

Thanks, easter.
Eastside Cannery is really remote, relative to most Las Vegas casinos. Here's a recent write-up about it at Vegaschatter.com

All things being equal, I would think Orleans, with its much-larger size and frequent shuttle service to the strip, would be a better choice for most Vegas visitors.
You can get some of the cheapest rates all year between the second week and Christmas. The rodeo goes the first week and is somewhat busy. Thereafter there are relatively few people and the room rates at all hotels are great.

RM...thanks and yout absolutely right, the hotel rates in Vegas during this period are terrific....but what I'm specifically looking for is first hand knowledge from anyone who has stayed either in the Orleans or Eastside Cannery in the recent past.

We stay at the Orleans every time we go to Vegas, usually in December. It is a great place to stay. There is a shuttle to the strip and to the Gold Coast. There is the Wranglers Hockey team that play at the Orleans Arena. Sinbad will be the also. We stayed there last in September and it was a great as it always is.
We were at the Orleans just last week. You can't beat the convenience of the shuttle and the variety of restaurants. Everyone we've encountered during our numerous stays there have been pleasant and very helpful.

The rooms are a good size and there is a coffee maker in each room.

We get to Vegas 2 to 3 times a year. In the last 9 years, we've stayed at the Orleans pretty much every trip.
We have stayed at both places. The rooms at Eastside Cannery are beautiful. It is a bit of a ride to the strip. Not a big deal if you have a car. We like the Orleans. It is a bit older but the buffet is better. You can't go wrong at either place.
Just stayed at the Orleans a few days ago and it was great, as usual. The buffet was good and I love their cheeseburger platter special for $4.99 at their coffee house, available 24 hours.
The rooms at eastside cannery are better than Orleans..but you'll have more fun at the Orleans . the EC is a giant tomb with slot machines
I've only stayed at The Orleans and would highly recommend it.
